Hook under my seat (F800st '07)

Now - call me stupid but shouldn't the hook under my seat be a little further up to allow for a buckle to slip through it and the seat to close?

I've had to use a master lock (my gym kit lock) to "extend" it so I dont have to carry it around with me in central londona all the time.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Per the manual, its designed to be used with an optional cable.
