If you're in the US, pick up the latest copy of Motorcycle Consumer News with the GS on the cover. A well respected rag that accepts no advertising and is generally quite objective.
They loved the bike; the number one gripe was unpredictable ABS stopping distances. Not failures, but inconsistent results.

Well, at least the ABS has an "off" switch on this model.
