[ahh]
Been out all afternoon on a 800S demo and i loved every minute :D everything is great about the bike apart from the indicators, with thick gloves on you accelerate when cancelling, not good at small roundabouts [:I] i suppose i'll get used to it, or indicate less [^]
Here's the heart/head bit, im going touring south of France first week in July for 10 days and we expect to put 2-3K on the bikes, iv'e just had new tyres chain and sprocket on my CBF to the tune of £400, i'll get £2.5K for my bike trade in if it's got 14k or 17k!!
My Brain is saying do france on the Honda and get the BM when i come back but my heart is saying get the BM NOW NOW NOW [bh]
Help me[huh]

Get the F800 and be done with it.
If you don't you'll just have wished you had.
At least there's a chance that you'll get to grips with the indicator cancel by the end of the ride.:D

Clearly the brain is not working in your best interests. Go with the heart, because lets face it, that inner instinct is never wrong. If I was choosing I'd be wanting to do France on the F800. But that's the head thinking that how practical that would be. The heart would be in full agreement and urging the purchase of accessories.
2/ What indicator problem?
3/ Either remove the new parts off the other bike, or keep the CBR for longer and use two bikes till you get better value but really what your saying is you'd rather do an extra 2-3K on the CBR to use up the value of some of what you paid for. So if you keep the CBR and do the trip how much less will the bike be worth, probably not much. And if you buy the F800 now how much less will it be worth with 2-3k extra on the clock when you choose to sell it. That being the case my brain is firmly in the get the F800 now camp. You lose nothing by doing that. (Or have I got my maths wrong again). Of course I want the bike so I'd be getting the maths to work for me.
4/ Imagine what the photos of France with you and the F800 will look like. Ahh such fond memories.

well slipper....the controls take a day or so to get used to...and you wont have thick winter gloves in the south of France! strip the CBR, turn it into a wicked track bike, buy the 800 and have as much fun as you can get with your pants on...
if you are heading south in the summer, check out the train that runs from Calais to Frejus, or Narbonne; not sure on bike prices but its £260 for a car with four people, its overnight...so saves you fuel tolls and hotel for the night, plus you get more time in the sun! save squaring off your tyres on the way down! see www.raileurope.co.uk

Hi Slipper1 and welcome. I think we are the worst audience to answer your question. We have all been there (why buy a brand new bike [^] ) and have all paid the price for our weakness [8D]. If writing of the extra 400 is your main problem: advertise it for the price you get from your dealer + de 400 quid and see what happens.
Or you could just follow your heart .... like we all did. What's an extra 400 for a superb holliday.
The indicators grow on you and after a few thousand km’s it gets quite automatic.

Slipper, I was in almost the exact same position as you, got rid of a hornet and jumped on the ST for a 2000 mile trip around the UK two days after owning it... I can confirm that you will not only be going with your heart, but your head as well as it is the perfect touring bike.

do it, you know you want to.
Indicators become second nature after a day or two.

go with your heart....it's going to be the nicest way to break-in a new bike...i've had 3 bm's with these flashers and would never go back to anything else...very easy to handle, even with thick gloves...enjoy the ride anyways
