At the back of the March issue of BIKE (the one with the F800/VFR800 comparison) there's around 25 pages of very sound and well written riding advice, of the kind that can help us all stay alive.

The only bit I would slightly query is item 15, on P148 - if you're going to do this, and decide not to go ahead with the overtake, be very careful that the vehicle behind you didn't move up into the space that you vacated when you moved out to take a look - the driver will nearly always assume that you've started your overtake and won't be coming back in.

Otherwise, excellent stuff, and it's good to see a magazine like BIKE printing it.

(Pat - read and digest items 16 and 17, and try to leave home 10 minutes earlier :):))

Good stuff greyerbeard.......There's also a lot of information on http://www.sportrider.com/ride/RSS/

that I find useful and have sent some mates to - The rider school series - 'cos we all learn everyday.

Will do sir. Actually I'm trying very hard to drive a bit greener and bump that fuel ecconomy up. It was one of the reasons for pursuading the wife it was the right bike. And in the greater scheme of things knocking 15MPH off your speed and those careful pull awys actually don't lose you more than a few minutes but they do save a lot of juice.
Was going to start this morning but ... well.... it felt good opening it up a bit. Maybe tomorrow...:D

I especially liked the advice about wheelies!! And without a chain to trash, theres nothing to stop me now.

Apart from the thought of almost £7k of bike going crunch! [B)]

Alot of car drives lean out at the lights and shout "Do a wheelie Mate" My reply is always. You do one first and I'll follow.

Yes but you need nice water. Not much of that round the UK.
Some of my brothers do diving. But not me...yet...

As a returning rider, very interested in buying an F800, I bought the March issue of BIKE, and agree with Greyerbeard that the riding info is really useful - makes me realise that I've been off two wheels for too long :D
