A friend that owns a R1100S took my "S" for a ride today.

His exact comments I cannot post here, but lets just say he was totally "gobsmacked" to use his words - he said the low down torque "just pulls like a freight train" and the handling left him awe inspired.

He is now talking of selling the R1100S and getting the F800S - another convert - only problem is he wants a red one [huh].

This is the R1100S

Red is the best colour....

... for a fire engine.

And the ST is faster and quicker.

Who starts these silly arguments?

Hi Keith...I came to the 800s after a 1100s, there is a difference..mainly the way they pull, the 1100s was a lot stronger from the mid range and doesnt run out of puff quite so early; the main difference was the weight, the big 's' is quite a lump to haul around, but a very satisfying bike to ride..

enjoying the 800 though, its a great little bike, lots of fun and pretty involving to ride, good for those knee down moments without the cylinders in the way...

I had a R1100S a few years ago - when they first came out - and never got on with it that well. The misses wouldn't go on the back cos of the lack of grab rail and found it quite heavy.

I do have a soft spot for the boxer engine, but the last boxer kept breaking down!!
