So, Rob, how do you like your yellow S; our dealer has one and am thinking about it. What did you have before the 800S?? Anything I should know; I currently ride a R1150R and had a R11RT before that.

I don't have an F800 -- yet. I'm holding out bigtime for a F800GS. (I've gone so far as to tell my wife that it'll probably be the last bike I buy prior to kids)

I currently ride an R1200GS.

I am not Rob, but I have yellow S 4 weeks and it has 600 miles on it, all in 20 mile trips so far. May 18 I do a 220 miles out and then May 20 the 220 miles home, for an AZ BMW MOA club rally.

The bike is great, highly flickable, is listest on some sites as fastest BMW except for the monster K bike. The ABS on mine makes it a great, quick stopper, and it gets over 60 mpg for me, to boot!

Thanks for your comments on the yellow 800S. I am liking mine really well. I see that you are 50 years of age and I am 56; I'm sure a lot of my friends think I am too old for a bike like this. I got it on Tuesday and put 194 miles on it the day I bought it and 158 miles the second day and 112 the third day and am thinking where I am going to ride today. It sure is a lot of fun. Have you had your 600 mile service yet and what did it cost?

Had it today as a matter of fact. It cost $114 and some change. They replaced the filter (no shards, and the comment was "perfect break-in") and 4 quarts of 10/50 oil.

Yet, at 6K miles, I think I'll do my own oil change. My belt is perfect too.

Had a TPM issue, they say it was fixed with a software upgrade. We'll see.

Thanks, 114 dollars sounds good; I was led to believe it might be a couple hundred since I tried to get the salesman to throw the 600 mile service in and he said he would split the difference and knock a hundred off. I guess it depends if they have to actually adjust the valves. I want to change my own oil at 6000 too. Does it take the same oil filters as the other BMWs? I have always done my own valve adjustments but I guess I will have to let the dealer check them on this bike. Did you buy any kind of centerstand as I have always taken my wheels off for tire replacement?

As for filters, I have heard (and read in these forums, somewhere) the F800 uses the same filter as the current K series, BUT theirs is black, ours is silver.
And for centerstand, I am waiting on BMW of Santa Cruz, the US distributer of Wunderlich products to import the Wunderlich Lifter. It lifts the back of bike in place of the ST's centerstand, and allows chocking the front up thereafter (I have a older frint stand that might work). It is simpler and easier to use and remove than the spool devices. It may be a copuple of weeks.

Thanks for the info. I had also read about the filter and on my other bikes I had always used a filter other than BMW. I did contact Santa Cruz BMW about the center stand and they said they were ordered and they would be $139. I will see if I can work out another way first before I order one.

I have yellow F800S. I got it a couple weeks ago. It now has a little over 1700 miles on it now. It runs great and is getting very high mileage. Could not be more pleased with it. I have just had the BMW hard bags installed and I think they enhance the look of the bike as well as adding some storage. I prefer the seating position of the S over the ST. A recent trip that was over 1100 miles has confirmed my choice. I have been enjoying all the little touches to the bike. It seems to be well thought out. I will heading to a BMW gathering next week in John Day, Oregon and hope to see some F800's there. There is suppose to be around 800 bikes or more, so there is a chance that I'll be seeing an other F800 on the road soon. Good luck with your new bike. I believe you'll enjoy it

I am 62 and have a 800 ST w over 2500 miles. Love the bike!!! The reason I chose the ST over the S is that it is far more comfortable on longer journeys (even short ones). I do like some comfort and leaning forward on the bike soon hurts the lower back.

I'm 54, I have had major surgery on my lower back. I have recently finished a 1100 mile trip on my S. I like the riding position far better then the more up right position of the ST. If I had make any a complaint it would be that the seat may be a bit too soft.
