If you are a rather astute F800Riders.org visitor, you may have noticed a little box hanging out at the bottom of the main forum page - something calling itself an 'Events Calendar'. Well, today, we're ready to officially announce it, and open it up for general use.
The purpose of the The F800 Rider Events Calendar is just as it sounds - to be the community calendar for the F800 Riders Association. Any Supporting Member can add dates to the calendar that may be beneficial for everyone to know about. Rallies, raids, ride outs, birthdays and important anniversaries (including the upcoming 1 year opening anniversary of F800Riders.org) are just a few items that we can envision being put on the calendar.
We're hoping that this little addition to the forum will promote a greater sense of community and help our members meet up in other places besides in front of a monitor - such as out on the road... which is where we should all be anyway! :D
A few questions that we might as well answer here before they get asked:
How do I add something to the Events Calendar?
Easy! Click on the Events, Ride Tales & Campfire Stories Forum (http://f800riders.org/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=10) and click on the http://f800riders.org/forum/images/cal_icon_event.gif New Event link on the top of the page. Enter your event and relax!
I don't see the New Event Link thingie, whats the deal?
You may not be in the Events, Ride Tales & Campfire Stories Forum (http://f800riders.org/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=10) or you may not be a Supporting Member (http://f800riders.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=774) - both are required to post an event. The rational behind requiring both is simply to promote organization and good sources of information.
Where can I view the Events Calendar?
It's at the bottom of the forum home page (http://f800riders.org/forum/default.asp), at the bottom of the the active topics page (http://f800riders.org/forum/active.asp), and linked at the top of every forum page right next to Private Messages and Site Statistics.
Please let us know of any issues with the system via Private Messaging. Any discussion related to the Events Calendar can be posted in this very thread.
Thanks and ride safe!
