View Full Version : Show the City / State or not?

I've been asked more than a few time to show user's city and state above where the country flag is. The constant argument is that it would make meeting people for the board easier, and give everyone a better understanding of where people are from.

I was just curious as to how everyone thought about it. Post feedback, good or bad, here. PM me if you don't want to discuss publicly.

I have no problem with that at all. For those that didn't want it to show, would they not have the option to opt out or just leave that info field blank?

Absolutely.

Where the hell is my F800GS too? [lol2]

I would put my city below Finland, no probs. By the way, "Frapper" shows those cities anyway...

YES! Show the city! We are an international bunch, it would be nice to see where we are clicking from.[clap]
Also, can we have the "city" in the emails that one receives from this FORUM?

THx.

OK. When I read Forum msgs on line - I can see a small flag, and that indicates where somebody writes from. That's good (adding a city will make it even better).
BUT, when I receive forum's msgs by email, the header looks like this:

Greetings Ataman,

roobarb has posted to the forum 'F800 Series Motorcycle Discussion' at F800 Riders International Forum that you have a subscription to. His or her post is in regards to the subject - TRANSMISSION MODS - AN UPDATE.

The message is as follows:
********************

I wish it said: roobarb (LOCATION) has posted.......

Sure we are reading all the msgs, but tend to pay more attention to msgs from our own countries and cities. With the membership growing by the day it is hard always to remember who is from where.

Hmmm... I might be able to do that. Give me a few days.

The cities / states are now functioning properly (after me screwing up the coding about 10 times and momentarily hosing every signature on the forum for about 5 minutes) If you don't put in a country, it will bypass everything. If you dont put in either a city or start, it will just display the country.

How's it look?

If you hover over the flag - it should give you the country name. With the UK it just says, "United" and with New Zealand (sp?) it just says, "New" - I cant figure out why. I've given up on it.

Oh well...

You have 2 alt tags in your flag image. The first one is correct. The second one isn't enclosed in quotes. There is a title in there as well with the same issue.

Thanks Neil - I fixed it now. That was the most obvious place, I should have looked there first.
