Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum and wanted to share my recent experience of touring B.C and Alberta with a yellow F800s (two up). The trip was the longest one I've been on riding a motorbike. My wife and I started in Victoria and took the ferry to Vancouver, then continued on to Kamloops to finish off the first day. The weather was the pits with rain and some thick fog most of the way to kamloops. Day two we continued on through Revelstoke, Banff, Calgary, and then finished off in Edmonton. This leg of the trip was tough with lots of rain, wind, and even hail with temperatures getting down to six degrees. After two days visiting friends in Edmonton we left for home, this time heading south to take the Crows Nest highway back to Vancouver. It was a longer route but it avoided all the bad weather further north, it also had a lot more corners! Southern B.C is a excellent place to ride! I wish we had taken more pictures but we were on a bit of a time deadline to get back to Victoria.
A few things I learned from the trip:
-This bike rocks! it never missed a beat, it was nice not have to
deal with chain lube after riding through so much rain.
-Heated grips are a great feature to have on a bike.
-The back shock had a hard time with the weight of luggage and a passenger.
-BMW gear is worth the money...too bad I only had their gloves.
-I need some sort of mechanical cruise control.
All in all it was a good trip, rode close to 3,000km.
