View Full Version : F800 how to ??
Hello
Feel we have learn a lot about bike the last 6mnd ,would it be possible to get something like an How to fix this and that problems\installing new equipment\minor\major overhaul\self service the bike, kind of database in place.
Would be good with instructive pictures too,I have personally used the Chaingang database a lot when I had the 650GS,It is very good an explains things very clearly.

Hi All,
I agree with Geir, this is an excellent idea, a mechanical section of sorts showing how to do various things with photos.
Andy
ABSOLUTELY! That's a fantastic idea!
Maybe we first need to start with a list, and them people can just pick things off of the list to complete, and they can be added to the Hall of Wisdom. (that was originally why it was built!)

A wiki would rock.

Great idea Geir, and I think there already is a lot of material on the site what can be used. When the Hall of Fame was new I just contributed some links to treads with useful information. But it did not really take off so I stopped submitting too.
So Rob: I think we would need a more attractive way to present the information as is possible a.t.m. so a kind of Wiki could work in my opinion.
But managing a wiki is a lot of work, so you would need a group of users who are prepared to put a lot of effort into the wiki or it will bleed empty like the Hall of Fame did.

count on me for help, amateur mechanic, have the tools, have the camera, have a little time to help.
Just know I won't tear apart my F800 to see what's on it![ahh]
It all starts with suggestions!

Hello
I have more or less taken my bike a part, will start to take some pictures and put them in the right place, when we get a place to put it.
Think we will have to start in the small ie How to do an oil\filter change\remove front and back wheel\change brake pads\plugs\air filter.
If we get it right every one will benefit by doing it yourself you also save some money.
Geir
Thanks Geir!
When making your informational post, start the topic with "HOW:" so that other people will get the idea.

Start easy - changing the oil. Tools needed, etc.

At the risk of telling much more knowledgeable people than I (I have to check the manual to see which way the bike is facing) how to suck eggs, I have had a go at a "how to change oil and filter" thread. I actually did it! And it worked.

And may I add (off topic) pls pls Rob put a *INDEX* button at bottom of each topic so we don't have to go to top of the page than back to index of all topics? [hide]
...or switch to next or previous, maybe I want the third...
They have it on BMWSportTouringForum and it works excellent!!! [B)]
Sorry and thanks in advance!!!

You right, this isn't the place to post this. I'll look into though.
