Something that has been on the agenda for a while has been the creation of an 'F800 FAQ' similar to what has been in place for quite a while now in the F650 Community:

See: http://faq.f650.com/main.html

We definately have the tools, and we're getting to a point as to where we have enough people on here to help. (118 online at the same time no so long ago!) It's time that we get this project started.

Step One: What do we want? (we are here)
The first thing we want to do is really make a listing of what we want. A good place to start would be the F650 FAQ. Look through it. See what *you* want to have completed. Post it to the brandy new How To Forum (http://f800riders.org/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=37) or reply to this thread.

Step Two: Write it up!
Pick an item from the list here, and make a post to address it in the this forum. We, hopefully, will have someone (or more than one!) volunteer as a FAQ-meister who will enter it in the Hall of Wisdom on your behalf. Start the thread with "HOW:" to designate it as a Hall item. Post a responce in the thread that asked for a guide, and we're good to go.

Step Three: Build! Build! Build!
This is going to take effort from everyone! Rome wasn't built in a day, but it was built by a whole lotta people! Take a few minutes of your time, and post a writeup of something. Ask people for a good writeup when they post something that may be of interest. Comment on the articles that are written to ensure the best possible information.

We can do this people! Lets get started!

Here's what we need:
- Belt drive (removal, replacement, adjustment)
- Brakes (<s>front changing</s>, rear changing, bleeding)
- Clutch (adjustment, removal, replacement, upgrade options if any)
- Coolant flush
- Exhaust Installation (full system, slip on)
- <s>Body Panel Removal / Reinstallation</s>
- <s>LED Turn signal </s> / Rear Signal Lighting Install / LED Install
- Suspension (adjustment, upgrade install)
- Tires (removal, installation)
- Wheels (removal, reinstallation)

We're also in need of a Hall of Wisdom Moderator that can assist in adding items and categorization. If you have a little bit of time, and are willing to help for a bit, please PM me.

Huge thanks to Pancho for diving in a writing in up a first bunch of articles! Way to go! Pancho's articles, along with the articles that everyone else will create with be indexed into The Hall of Wisdom (http://f800riders.org/forum/links.asp).

Take a look at what Pancho has done in regards to the 'change the air filter' article for an example on what an excellent HOW is all about: http://f800riders.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2264

I should have read this thread before I jumped in with the oil change thread! Sorry, Rob. I probably got carried away with the prospect that there would be only ONE topic on which I could conceivably contribute, so I enjoyed getting it together. Rob: feel free to put it somerwhere consistent with any structure you devise.

Rob

Since this is a globally parked item, it might be an idea to announce here where the HOW TO items are with a link. Othwewise I suspect many might not realise where they are or find them - especially new-comers.

Pancho: just saw your 4 additions to this section. Great work!

Rob, there have been some good how to's in the past (like how to check if your bike has had the front pully mod) how could we link them to this new 'how to' forum. Should we just post a new thread with a link to the old thread or can you think of some other way (like moving them to this forum)?

I think we need to make this as easy for people as possible. Stuff like that (in my opinion) needs to have a new thread made of it, specifically as a "HoW:" Article.

What does everyone think?

Might as well - even if the issue has probably become passe (acute accent on the e). I've had a go at it (see How to thread.

as curator I'm open to any and all suggestions, and I have no qualms whatsoever about taking my F800S to pieces to further the knowledge - I've still only got 67km on my odometer and I've already purchased a torx wrench set....what to tinker with first? :)
