Is this still available Dunny? If so, whereabouts in the north east is the bike? Though I'm Dahn Sarf in Kent, I'm coming up to near York on Saturday and will be staying with friends through to Wednesday, when I leave for a track day at Cadders. Could come and have a chat/take a look? Does it have heated grips by the way? I have a GS and can't do without them these days. Summer? Pah!
Cheers,
Penf

This reminds of the story about Tazio Nuvolari the champion race car driver. A reporter asked Tazio if he had a death wish and how did he find the courage to get into a race car after he had replied to an other reporter that he would like to die in a crash leading a Formula One race. The great Tazio replied by asking the reporter how he would like to die. The reporter answered that he would like to die peacefully in his bed asleep. Tazio then asked the reporter how did he find the courage to get into bed.

Do you give in to Pier Pressure easily??? Live your life!

Stats mean nothing if you ride safely and use the brain you were born with. 'Ride Safe, Be Safe', 'Think Bike', heard these before? But it works both ways. I mean if you've bought a bike just to go 'Fast' then your doing the right thing to get rid of it.

It might be too late to give advise but if you felt vulnerable when riding you should've joined a club affiliated to either the IAM or RoSPA or at least attended a Bike Safe weekend. You learn when to be cautious, when it is safe to be fast but most of all enjoy the freedom of smooth riding on two wheels.

When you pass your IAM Advanced Motorcyclists Test you get a certificate and a badge too. You'd be alright pining the badge around your groin area though as it sounds like you've not got any balls :)

Here's a thought http://f800riders.org/forum/images/icons/icon3.gif, there are some 2200ish members of this forum, if each person subbed £2\$20 each (by the time we settle up it could be the exchange rate) to raise the money to buy the bike and put poor Dunny out of his misery and we all win.

Dunny can cheer up and remain here in a better frame of mind without daily fear of crashing and dying (but still be as arsey) and we get an unused bike that could be broken up for spares. (There could be a conflict here though with the F800 depot!!!!)

Anyways Pat H can then swap the coloured body panels and tank from his bike to Dunny's (assuming Pat still prefers red) and then that resolves Pat's ABS issue and the rest of the parts can be shared around.

Great idea........ No ........... is it just me? Perhaps Dunny's right.

convert to Zen Buddhism (I am Zen). Perceive the Truth through meditation and Zen riddle practice. You won't have any problems riding after that.

You can never die Dunny, because you were never born. Everything that is has always been, and always will be.

Thinking about death is honestly about the biggest waste of time I can think of. It doesn't matter when where or how you're going to die. You will someday, well your body at least. Wasting energy preparing or trying to avoid death, or otherwise attempting to prolong it is even more absurd. A plane could fall out of the sky and crush you. One in a billion odds? It's happened, most recently a couple weeks ago in the States. I'd rather live each moment exactly how I want to, and I don't give a flying fuck how or when I die, because it really honestly doesn't matter one bit.

Perhaps you should disassemble it and sell it off a few bits at a time. That way you could sell the entire bike to the outside world instead of being limited to the UK, ah, er, Fukue.

If I read the BMW parts book prices correctly, I think a full parts kit to assemble your own F800 should sell for about $120,000 US.

And you can make a second fortune on international shipping.

You'd have to buy another tool, though.

As a card carrying member of Conspiracy Theorists Association I found 100% correlation between facts that Dunny is selling his bike day after Pat H sells his.

Therefore for your reading pleasure I list number of probable conspiracy explanations from best to naive:

1. As BMW was well aware that early F800 models were riddled with quirks and bugs, so they run sophisticated PsyOps operation. They created both Pat and Dunny personas in order to let early owners a little steam of, both by having someone to laugh on (Dunny) and admire for resilience (Pat H). Also Pat H persona was used to promote important ABS handling skill to F800 owners (brake re-apply). The "Pat H" you could meet at UK events was in fact hired actor. Now BMW is sure that they ironed most stuff out, so is the time to retire those characters.

2. As I discovered my first day on the site, Dunny is experimental Turing grade annoy-bot. However its creator know that when he lose steady stream of Pat H posts used as input data, the bot will be no longer Turing grade, therefore he has to retire him.

3. BMW PR dept analyzed that in order to make customers more docile and sheep like, they need to get rid of Pat, so they bribed him in order to sell. When at it, they also scared Dunny to get out as for an added bonus.

4. Dunny always try to emulate his secret hero - Pat H.

5. Its a coincidence (Ha Ha! I would like to see fool believing this).

Pat H

Maybe you both can do a 2 for one sale?

Pat, what kind of bike are you going to replace it with?

I was looking at a once used 2008 F800s in Red without ABS but I'm too early for that. I won't look at an F800 pre 2008 so most likely I'll move away from BMW.
My local dealers OK but it's a struggle to get the attention and issues looked at and frankly for the extra you pay you shouldn't have to feel like it's a fight. I expected quality service.

So no idea yet the CRB still has a big pull for me that I'm finding hard to see around. The Triumphs are nice as are many bikes. But from the F800 experience it's got to be something established. As a commute bike and an unresponsive dealer beat test riding bikes just doesn't work for me.
Especially when there's a deaf and mute bug report system in place!

Especially when there's a deaf and mute bug report system in place! For now I am pretty happy with the bike, but I am a very low mileage rider. I rode my honda more last year than I have ridden this one. That is okay with me. I didn't buy her for commuting but more for pleasure so when I feel like it I will take her out and when I don't, she will loyaly sit and wait for me. The only other bike I would get at this time and that would be an addition would be a goldwing because I hang with a goldwing drill team and they would teach me how to ride it. I know I am capable, but for what ever reason, this seems to be an off season for me as well as weather and time constraints. There is always tomorrow!

I wish you luck with your new purchase what ever it might be. :)

Have you tried to trade it in? I got £4K for mine direct swap for a R1100S full history etc from my BMW garage, as it turns out the R1100S wasn't the bike for me, too uncomfortable on my groin area, i only had it a month and sold it no problem, i now have a R1200ST which is the best BMW iv'e ever ridden :-)

Point im trying to make is i had difficulty selling my F800S no problem selling the R1100S, it's a tried and tested well sought after bike, even with a recession going on :-)

Good luck with the sale mate.

Hmmm..........If I got rid of it, I'd need somewhere else to put all my paint pots and garden tools....

You may even meet French Canadians on route. Who knows.

Wait a sec - I resemble that remark!
