Fitting fog lamps to the F800 S/ST: Circuit description
Overview:
This describes the fitting of a pair of SW-Motech H4 55W fog lamps to a F800 ST. The fog lamps operate via an auxiliary lamp switch (sourced from the R1200 GS Adventure) and two relays. The dip beam is cancelled while the fog lamps are on. The system’s use is intended to be for times of poor visibility not to increase light output per se.
This circuit is just one way of connecting a pair of fog lights to the F800. It...

HOW TO - REAR BEARINGS
Made a bike stand by bolting short pieces of conduit to the existing centerstand bosses.
Winched the bike up in the rear and dropped the conduit down into holes bored into 2 pieces of 4x4 wood that I screwed to a wheeled pallet mover. Now the bike can be rolled & rotated as needed and sits at a good working height.
Use a TX27 driver to remove the lower beltguard piece. Then unclip and remove.
Unless it made things harder, I put screws back in and cleaned up...

The problem with the F800S/ST rear wheel axle (BMW call it a drive shaft) is that originally the metal that this was made from was not up to the job (it's too soft!). So what happens over time is that the wheel bearings themselves wear away the axle causing grooves. These grooves then allow movement in the whole assembly which then causes the weather seal to fail allowing in water etc etc. Rust then forms & eventually the rear wheel will seize completely.
BMW acknowledged this problem...

While reading through my BMW F650/800-series service manual DVD, I noticed the following statement in the brake fluid changing instructions for the front brake reservoir: “Using disengagement tool (No. 32 1 511), press back the lugs on the reservoir and remove the reservoir cap”. It had not occurred to me that I would need a special “disengagement” tool to remove the cap of my front brake reservoir (fondly referred to as a bobble-head, by most F650/800GS owners). My dealer had to convert this...

From the time I received delivery of my new F800Gs until later in the season, I added a few electrical accessories. Some were added in right off the start such as the GPS wiring and the Gerbings lead and a second power outlet. Others that came along later were the Vision X LED driving lights and the Autocom communication system. I basically added the wiring in as needed with minimal fuss just to get things working. It was all well and fine as far a function goes, but for form it was a little...

Finished the install of the Brake Modulator on the 09 BMW F800GS. Fairly simple. A little trial and error to get her to go...but it works, and works well. The only thing different from the description is that it will not have the 5 second "timeout." It WILL flash every time you hit the brakes. Don't care here.
Remove the seat, remove tailbag plate, and the pillon "jesus" handles.
remove the tail section piece. 2 torx bolts. You will see this.

Well my belt gave way on the way home tonight. Just shy of 39,000 Miles.
It had a slight tear on one side I'd noticed a few days ago and that seemed to be holding then just went.
I've had a used belt sitting on the shelf for over a year so just a case or replacing it.
So here's the pictures and procedure:
The bike safe home with it's belt missing:
