nifty thrifty cruise control thingy

Long Beach Motorcycle Show had a 3' partial booth for this product - nicely packaged. The item itself feels real solid and comes in carbon fiber trim so we know it went before at least one focus group.

I was convinced this thing was my cruise control solution in 15 seconds. Once home I installed mine in 3 seconds. Manufacturer claims install takes 6 seconds, but I went to colluge.

It is a clip that opens to slip over throttle with enough slack to be "1-finger" rotated down with hand doing regular throttle duty, to brake lever - but enough tensile strength to grip the throttle and hold it in place. When your hand is rested you 1-finger rotate the clip back up or close throttle to back the clip off the brake. It's pretty ingenious and simple - $19

If pic's don't post go to website www.2wheelride.com and click "go cruise throttle control". This thing looks to be just what I'm looking for to practice Chris Pfeiffer moves.

glenn2 is right about this new toy. It don't weigh nuthin and it clips on very easily. I tried one last week on a Dealer ride. Met the inventor. NIce guy named Billy, I think. I just didn't want to spend 19 dollah. Admittedly, on the way home from mt Palomar I could not get the cramp Buster to work as well as I preferred. This little deal works very well and goes on and off in a flash so you can pocket it and maintain ownership. Comes with two 'O' rings for increased tension if it's needed.
I'm not sure Mr. Pfeiffer does stoppys at full throttle though.[8D]

Dealer ride 'eh. (hmmmm notacop didn't say what kind of dealer. . .he didn't say it was a BMW dealership. . . Maybe he's considering a defect to Ducati? Probably not Mussolini was a coward and he strikes me as having too much bravado Triumph? Norton? Well Churchill did pull those brits together pretty well. Good Lord not Harley? The White House's throwing money at anything with a pulse! {secretly glenn2ns inserts politics and world history into thread as part of his masterplan as he attempts to build new group of "riders for the advancement of world history"}

Hey, youse boys thinkin' that i'm a back stabbing Hardley wank? Never! Ducati, perish the thought. I did have an Ariel oncest, and a Honda and a Benelli and 5 other beemers.

Browns' had the monthly ride and I went along. So if you want one call them in Pomona and be nice and they will charge you the correct amount for a good thing.

don't know sales guy handed me one. He also offered me the super secret new color not offered to anyone buy yellow S Beemer folk - chrome all chattel get carbon fiber
stand by for pic
no rainin'

I actually have these cool foam grip pads (velcro assist) that enlarge the grip diameter. Fortunately, this gizmo slips right into a perfect slot between grip pad and whatever Berlin gave us for grip stop

I think it's a space age alloy of sorts. . . too dense for plastic yet strangely not any metal known to this colluge boy. . .checking packaging for materials list. . let's see it says "do not take your hands off the handlebars"

"note to CP"

on and on it goes with the legal blather about do not eat this or something "do not drink scolding McDonald's coffee while operating this device". . . .

"Warranty: one years limited warranty" come on giv 'em a brake they're an upstart. Doesn't say China but go figure

Idea is genius. Product seems very worthy and seems very well built, website is weak, instruction sheet is weaker, no word on construction material.

3 days rain forecast so I might get washed into that big blue wet thing (glenn2 points left) 3 miles that away before I can try it.

Hold on! this is California and the song says 'It never. . .

J, I'm not a linguist but I think that's Japanese. My package has two sizes listed L (25mm) and S 22(mm) with a line drawn through the L 25mm.

Does that mean the L 25mm is exluded or selected?

Again they're an upstart. All in all I'd say well done with a few scrunchy edges to file down. Colors would easily bring them greater cash flow. this thing costs 25 cents to injection mold and 20 cents to package. I figure the upper price point to be around $30.

Oooh, oooh, me.
Like I said, I tried it out on a dealer ride that Billy, the inventor, was on. He whips out this thing and plops it on the throttle and shows me that when you have the throttle open for your speed setting, you push downward on the device making it rest on the brake. Magically it hold the throttle open at the position you set.
Like all other throttle stop devices, it holds your speed, relatively. To overcome the device one simply rolls off the throttle. It won't replace a true cruise control but it be a very effective 2nd. Doesn't take any installation skills like some of the more sophisticated pricey throttle stops.
Easy, simp and quickle.
My Cramp Buster is a POS compared to this thing. Most effective for the freeway drones. You know, when you have to pick your nose or rummage through the tank bag at speed looking for you GU energy pack.[8D]

I tried it in the light drizzle today for 5-10 miles and found that without the rubber band the throttle was slipping closed - it never closed but trying to move in that direction. It slipped from 3500 rpm to 3000 rpm in 20 seconds or so. (what did I do with that rubber band?). It activated very easily. Very optimistic.
