I gave myself an early Easter present and picked up a pair Alpinestars SMX-1R boots for a good price. I've only worn them around the house so far but they feel very comfortable. I bought these 'shorty' boots to replace my aging BMW branded ankle boots which I wear in warmer weather or around town with jeans.

The Alpinestars SMX-1R boots are my third pair of Alpinestar boots. I still have a pair of full length touring boots which have given me excellent service.

Not to question anyone's taste in apparel....but why buy a pair of boots that can't be repaired of resoled? I recently got some Sidi boots that have a vibran sole and can be resoled.
My prior Sidi City boots were on the the 3rd sole when the boot butcher f'd them up putting in a new zipper rendering them kinda ruined.
I've got a pair of Dainese boots that are a one sole boot. Got them 10 years ago and they were never comfortable enough to wear out.
But, if the foo shits, wear it!

I don't do a lot of walking in motorcycling boots, so the sole wouldn't wear out like on a pair of street shoes. My 15 year old Alpinestars touring boots the soles are as good as new. The uppers are near perfect also.

I have the vented women's version and I wear them on my daily commute in Florida. They're very comfortable.

Hi Bonnie,, how are your Alpinestars going for wear, considering you wear them daily? My motorcycling is only recreational and these boots will only be worn for short rides mainly in summer.. They make take some time to break in though.

Motorcycling boots, reminds me of what happened some years ago.

Just about every year I'd go with a bunch of mates to Phillip Island for the World Superbikes. I've done nine trips to the Island, eight times for the Superbikes and once for a 500 GP. One year we managed to get accommodation and the Isle of Wight Hotel (before it burnt down) in Cowes. Getting there is a two day trip through some of the best motorcycling roads on the planet. Through the Australian Snowy Mountains region, the high country of north eastern Victoria and the Great Ocean Road just for the icing on the cake. That year we had plenty of rain, especially along the Great Ocean Road. I was riding a 1990 Moto Guzzi Le Mans MkV at the time.

The first night at the hotel we went into the lounge to have a drink but were asked to leave because we were wearing joggers. There's a rule, which we weren't aware of, no joggers in the lounge. It's a pub for Christ's sake!

The six of us went back to our rooms and changed into our riding boots (the only other footwear we had except thongs, flip flops for those on the other side of the pond). After two days on the road they were covered in dirt and road grime but nothing was said by the establishment about our footwear.

Good so far after a year, but I don't walk far in them.

I finally got to try out my new Alpinestar boots. Comfortable and very light. I noticed a bit more engine vibration coming through the pegs than my BMW branded boots. Nothing too obtrusive though.
