I got it last Saturday and right now she is at the dealer getting the 600 mile run in check and panniers mounted, I got a good deal on the stock Vario cases.

I have a New Coretech strap mounted tank bag I am going to modify and screw down to the tank.

I also have an oil filter / heat exchange cover coming from Wunderlich. A friend from ADV donated a Touratech skid plate and a SW Motech center stand he had left over from a 650GS he no longer owns.

Getting ready to pull the trigger on a SW Motech Alu-Rack as well.

Cant wait to get it back and start attaching the goodies!

Very nice Serge. Holly and I looked at this same bike a couple of weeks ago for her. She wants the lower suspension and perhaps the lower seat. Are you going to stick with the street bias tire?

I will go with a more dirt oriented tire but the bike is my primary mode of transportation so it won't be a full on knobby. I am going to wear these out before replacing them so I haven't done any research, I have no idea what the latest and greatest is these days.

I am very impressed with BMW's comfort seat, mine came on the bike as a freebie. I know its not much but I did three 200 mile days in a row with no issues, butt felt great at the end of each day.

Let's see. So far I've addded a lower seat, crash bars, skid plate, vario tail bag, and a wolfman tank bag to mine... Looking for brush guards and a few other protection bits before I venture off the highways...

I'm also very intersted in the right "tires" as the stock ones don't look very dirt capable to me!

I just ordered a SW Motech Alu-Rack and Wolfman Express tank bag, which bag did you get? Any chance you have pics? How did you mount it?

I will get a picture of it with the side cases shortly.

Got the explorer lite. Liked the way it was shaped for the tank and the pocket outside in the front. I'll take a picture and post up in a bit.... I mounted it with the 4 straps - two under the seat, and two on the frame inside the fairing. Holds pretty securely, isn't too tall, and has enough room for my necessities!

There were a couple of posts under the seat (up against the body) that I looped it around... I'll take pictures of that too...

Here are a couple pics with the Vario cases and Alt Rider luggage rack. I had to get longer hardware and some nylon spacers to get it to work with the comfort seat. As you can see the rack is still pushing down on the seat, the fine folks over at Alt Rider are working with me to correct this.

Looks good Serge. My skid plate and crash bars are due next week!! Then I can venture onto some fire roads and start exploring a little bit... Still thinking about adding some brush guards too, but the wife is now tracking the accessory spend so I better behave!

Yeah, mine is starting to pay attention as well!

I just took the bike to one of the finest seat makers in all the land, he modified the seat so the rack no longer rubs on it. You cant even tell he touched it, took him all of 20 minutes, and he didnt even charge me. A big thumbs up for Bill Mayer Saddles in Ojai CA!

That tank bag sucked, I am actually getting ready to send back the third attempt. I cannot seem to find one that fits and still allows access to the ignition and accessory plug. I an very frustrated!! I have tried the Wolfman Express, Cortech Super 8L, and the Bags Connection that clips to a tank ring.

mbonadio, do you have any issues getting at the ignition or plug?

Serge - Yeah... I can access my ignition and plug without any trouble with my Wolfman Explorer lite... It sits back far enough on the tank (because of the way the bottom is coutnered to match the tank). I still have enough room in front of me too... I'm pretty darn happy with it!! Been using it every day, and it holds all my usual junk that I need. I was most worried about it being too tall, but even expanded I have plenty of space to see over it.

My latest farkling.... Purchased a Synergy 2 electric vest - believe it or not it gets a little chilly on the morning commute here in sunny AZ in the winter.... Got the adapter to attach it to my battery tender plug. Also have some barkbusters handguards on order, and picked up a cool windshield deflector from Wunderlich to take a little buffeting off my head.

Now I'm looking at a small Zumi 500 GPS and RAM mount to add a little electronic fun.... Should be no excuses for me not to have great adventures now..

Well I managed to track down the bag I wanted to begin with. Its been discontinued but I found a place in Florida that still actually has 2 of them on the shelf. Cortech Super Mini, strap mounted. I have had this bag on my last 2 bikes and love it. I should have bought them both.

I got my sport shield from Cee Bailey's, works pretty good and very reasonably priced.

I agree with regards to the comfort seat. I got mine as a N/C for my 800 and it's Night and Day from the regular seat.

If you are going to add a luggage rack make sure you contact the company prior to ordering to make sure it will fit with the comfort seat. Altriders will NOT without adding spacers and getting longer bolts. Its a nice rack though.

The new shield looks great Serge - I got my Wunderlich windshield deflector and after trying a few positions have gotten it to the place where most of the air flow is out of my face and chest. I will get a picture up...

My replacement gas tank is in and will be going on next week. I'm still hunting for hand guards that will fit....

I found the BMW ones on Amazon for well below retail from MAX BMW. I wondered but the part numbers for both left and right were listed, so I said - what the heck - and ordered them. The day later the price on the site went up, but I never got a complaint. Bars showed up with proper hardware 2 days later and even had a bag of M&M's in the box! Kudos to MAX BMW!!

Installation took no more than 10 minutes. They look great. Let's hope I don't have the find out how well they work for anything other than a slow sped drop in dirt! haha.

ID:	35440I've new owner of a F700GS and thought I'd add what little I could to this thread. So far I've got rear rack and hard cases, SM-motech crash bars (nice product, easy install, protects faring), I also added a 12v power socket (the standard cigarrette size) marine grade it fit very well by the ignition. Skid plate in near future, as well as hand guards and possiby a centerstand.
I'll add pics as soon as I figure out how, guess I need photobucket or something like it

Hey there yourself, Daniel, welcome to the forum. 'Photobucket' - well yes, you can use that method of course and it also has the advantage of posted images displaying larger on the forum pages. You can, however, simply use the 'Go Advanced' button, scroll down a bit and you'll come across an option to upload images from your computer. Any problems - get back.

Thanks, I figured it out. I see your from Southern Germany, Thats a beautiful area. I've had the opportunity to spend time in Munich, visited my brother in law in Immenstadt (works for Bosch) and spend three months in Salzburg (not Germany I know but beautiful), and driven from Immenstadt to Arle France. One day I hope to get back and travel by motorcycle.

First post I've read where Germany gets a mention with not a word written about our beer and sausages.

What's with the replacement gas tank? Surely BMW has solved the cracking problem by now.

I was wondering what the replacement tank was all about. Any details?

So far I've got rear rack and hard cases, SM-motech crash bars (nice product, easy install, protects faring), I also added a 12v power socket (the standard cigarrette size) marine grade it fit very well by the ignition. Skid plate in near future, as well as hand guards and possiby a centerstand.
I'll add pics as soon as I figure out how, guess I need photobucket or something like it

Hi Daniel I'm new as well.. Like today What did you do for the rear rack case? I'm particularly intersted in doing something there of a more low budget nature. That will be my first mod.

Whowardb - It's a common problem on the F800 and since it's the same tank on the F700 apparently it has carried on here too... There is a lot of info on this board and others about it. Mine cracked after 300-400 miles and was replaced under warranty - and now I'm at about 2500 miles and no signs of repeat yet.

    Hi all,

I just traded my 2005 650 GS for a new lowered 700GS. It fits me like a glove. I use it mostly for touring about with the hubs who has a 1200RT. We're on a lot of dirt and country roads here in New England! The hubs has been biking since birth. I'm late to the game, but loving it. I'm really looking forward to the 2 cylinders and some extra oomph!

Since I was getting a deal on accessories, I got the vario side and back cases and hand protectors. I was getting ready to get a bigger wind shield for the 650, but waited for the 700. What would you recommend for an optimal screen? I'm 5' 4" and just want to cut down on the buffeting and wind noise, but don't want to create a sail situation either. I was looking at the BMW, but I saw a couple others mentioned here. Any pros/cons you can share?

I won't be doing any real off-roading with this - I have 2 TRWs for that. So what other protector type add-ons would you recommend? I wish there was an anti-idiot switch - that would probably be most helpful for me.

Take a look at the Cee Bailey windscreen.. They have several heights to choose from.

Just wondering if you considered the BMW taller windshield?
