    Hi everybody,

I thought that it might be about time for a proper introduction to this forum.

I'm 26 and live in Brussels, Belgium.

In about 2 or 3 weeks time I'll get my sparkling new 2012 F800R.

It's a silver F800R which looks absolutely amazing in my opinion, and it's a rare colour on a F8R...which is good.

The bike come with the following OEM options: heated grips, boardcomputer and led turn signals. Also ordered some other stuff from the Touratech catalogue; that list is a bit too long but I'll list it down in another topic when the F8R arrives.

    Right, my bike history then.

Well, the F8R is my very first BMW and European motorbike to own.

My other bikes were, in order of owning:
    - Honda CB500 (2000) restricted to 25KW => rode it for about 13 months and it broke down
    - Yamaha XT660X (2005) => fun big mono => wrecked it unfortunatly
    - Yamaha WR250X (2009) => small displacement supermoto, but a lot of fun 'cause it's so nimble and light in the twisties

    ... and now the F8R!

    Greetings!

    Chris

Welcome to the crew Chris - It can be a bit of madhouse, but you'll get used to it.

Welcome Chris, coming from those bikes the F800R will feel big but it's actually quite light and you will get used to it quite soon.

One word of warning watch your speedo! After those nimble bikes when riding the F800R you might discover you are riding much faster as you think you are.

    Have fun but safe!

Thanks for the warm welcome! Very much appreciated.

@de100kb: Cheers for the warning, I'll keep that in mind

I first test rode an F8R last year in August at my BMW dealership.

They said: "Hey here's the key, if you want to you can the take the F8R for a spin around the block".

My reaction was: "Can I, really?"

The guy said: "Yeah, but take it easy 'cause someone just crashed our other demo bike and this is the last one we got ".

....Oh oh, that made me even more anxious

The one I test rode was a fully tricked out F8R with Akra and custom paint job.

So I took off - luckily didn't stall it in front of the BMW mechanics.

The test ride was amazing: all that power and torque in low - mid revs, wow! And then there's the sound of the open Akra...needless to say more

The F8R at riding speed feels very light, especially for an 800! If I remember correctly, I think my old Honda CB500 felt more heavy.

Untill the F8R arrives, I got some time to reflect on how I'll name the bike; e.g. my Honda CB500 used to call "Miss Daisy"... don't ask me why

    Cheers!
