Yup since buying the bike new in 2006 I've just clicked 130,000 miles. Just done 1300 miles on a tour in Wales (UK) and 3 weeks commuting into London to teach (another 900+miles)
The bike rattles a bit more than it did at a year old but it runs so well a pure joy to ride still.

That is very impressive. I got close to 90,000 on mine before replacing with another with lower mileage. Bike was still going strong but definitely feeling the miles. My current one just hit 20k. Also a London commuter and sport-tourer - made Scotland, Wales and Cornwall this year. Ever go to the Ace?

Cool to hear. I haven't been on the forum in a while and was wondering if you still had your bike. I bought an FZ09 in 2017 expecting to replace the F800 and quickly found it doesn't have the character of the old girl so been riding the BMW mostly. at 29,000 miles, yes it rattles and doesn't have near the power of the FZ but very much prefer. A few days ago the stator went out again so will be replacing. Still keeping her probably til I pass! Good you're still out there!

Living in the most heavily locked-down city in the world has some peculiar benefits. I have had very little bike fuel and servicing expenses over the last 18 months - just 54 Km of riding. (We have to be able to demonstrate dire circumstances to be allowed outside 5 Km radius from home.)
My bike is very clean and shiny....

Congrats, Pat, on reaching this big milestone. Great that the bike continues to be a performer with that many miles behind her! Seems cost of repairs must be have been really low with you doing it most of it yourself. Other than the piston slapping, am wondering what else you had to take care of along the way. Did the piston thing happen early in her life? This is the highest number of miles for an F bike, in fact for any bike model, I have heard from a bike owner. There must of course be some with higher numbers out there.

Like you Gerry, just seen this.
Though I still have my ST, and love riding it, I had stopped coming on the F800 site for a while now for various reasons including health.

For those who have read PatH's post but maybe new here, PatH is an old established and respected member of this illustrious site. His posts of repairs and rear bearing replacements are a must to see. Pats auto garage door opening is great, just have to see from start to finish, a great one that is[8D].

It is my hope to be back on the road again next year, and hopefully have my transplant sooner than later.

All the best old buddy, all the best and a happy Xmas to you and all F8 buddies around the world.

I am very pleased to hear about your experience with the bike. I became the owner of a red 2009 F800s 2 years ago. I live in Cricklewood North London.
Although I don't do much mileage - I bought the bike with 18k miles and have 2.5k - I have grown to appreciate the bike for its light weight and handling.
I do a lot of suburban riding and my one disappointment is the fuel consumption. Yesterday the fuel light came on after 125 miles and it cost me £27.00 to
top up with premium. I will use 95 octane E5 in future. I wonder why my bike is so thirsty ? I have a booster plug installed and I put a lighter and nicer sounding exhaust on the bike
I wonder either of these could be the culprit ?
Since you commute into London from Ware I would be very interested to hear about your fuel consumption experiences.
Great to hear about such a long time owner. Best, Tom

I pretty much get 58mpg consistently. Commuting or on a spirited ride out its about the same. If I ride gently that can go up to mid 65mpg.
I have a blue flame exhaust but no booster plug. I believe they do increase fuel consumption.

My ST is bog standard as far as the exhaust and plugs go. I get around 200 miles between fill ups, and use the side stand to do so, have to really as it has no centre stand[:D]

As an add on to my post above (25). I use the cheapest petrol around E10, okay it is around £1.89/litre, but my mileage between fills is around the 200/215 mark. I do not thrash it, I have no need to. Though I have in the past, and the acceleration was brilliant but the fuel consumption was down to around 140/150 between fill ups.

Also the hot weather plays a big part in due economy as well.

Overall, the F800 is a great bike.
