  1. Can I use this forum to say goodbye and thank you?

Haven't been here very often lately, but after over four years with my 2007 F800ST, I didn't have many questions left.

I want to say goodbye, though, and thank everyone for an excellent forum and...

I'll try that, but after this evening's experiment I'm thinking it must be the battery as I was able to start the bike with jumper cables from my Acura TL, although I had to run the Acura at 2k rpm...

Well, that must be it, Jeff, your battery is putting 1/50th of a volt more than mine! :-) And the "zhhht-zhhht-zhhht-zhhht" sounds more like the "trying to start an engine without enough cranking...

Hmm, might come to that, but it really doesn't "feel" like the battery since it's outputting 12+ volts. (Charged question follows: "Is the BMW electrical system really that flaky?")

    Thanks,...

Won't start, battery shows 12.68 volts

Okay, before I call the dealer and have the bike towed, thought I'd run it by you guys.

2007 F800ST that I haven't been able to ride since June 2011 (bad hip) has sat on a BMW OEM trickle charger...

Wow. Been busy, first visit to the forum in over a week. From the photos of the damage to the bike, it seems amazing to me that your injuries weren't worse, thank goodness!

    Hang in there --...

I can't recommend the screen highly enough. It took me some experimenting to get the adjustment right on my ST with the 22" screen, but now it is perfect. Top of the screen is below my...

    Really pleased.

Got out on the bike for about an hour yesterday afternoon; local temperature was in the mid-40s. Had the windscreen in the third position I've tried, and it is almost perfect. No earplugs required!...

How are you guys reaching the allen bolts?

Put my 22" on last weekend, but I haven't had a chance to try it out yet due to work and weather. Hope to get out on it sometime in the next few days, though.

I'm *really* pleased with how good...

    Glad I found this thread!

I was on the verge of buying a 1989 Honda PC800 for touring, although I was going to keep the F800ST for the fun factor, precisely because of wind noise. The Givi windscreen I've been using...
  13. Poll: Yeah, that could have been me, Brendan.

I live pretty close to that intersection. If the guy you saw was wearing a red-and-black jacket and "Sliders" khaki cargo pants (my summer gear), it was me.

I'll PM you, maybe we can do a...

  15. Poll: Got to bail, hate to miss you folks.

I'm calling in a few minutes to cancel my reservation. Just can't take much time off work right now and I HAVE to take the NC/SC coast ride that I've been trying to take for a year in September.

I wondered if you worked for Lowe's!

Back when you introduced yourself and said you were commuting daily from Wilkesboro to "Charlotte" I wondered if you were working for Lowe's, Owen. So it's actually just North of Charlotte that you...

    [SOLD] 25" Cal-Sci windscreen for F800ST

Does provide great wind protection, but for me (5'11" 32" inseam), at least, with my ST and the SW Motech bar risers, creates quite a bit of noise. YMMV as many others have had better results.

Did you get the little strip of foam?

Treehugger, I have the 25" (I think) Cal-Sci windscreen which I bought new. It came with a little strip (maybe 3" long and 3/8" wide) that is sticky on one side. The instructions with the screen...

Same approach here, and I've NEVER been able to put more than 2.9 (US) gallons in, even when the "distance left" (I know, I know) indicator said 19 miles.

Owen, do you commute to Charlotte or to Winston-Salem for work? That's a tough commute.

I have the 25-inch CalSci and I rarely use it, as noise reduction is my main goal and it, if anything,...

    I have to disagree, Bake.

I kind of agree with John on this. For one thing, the mirror extenders (I have them) look stupid. For another, this would be funny if it weren't so infuriating.
