Ahhh, but was it swearing or cunningly linking certain words together that the reader might miss-interpret in to their own ride works..

Yup, first year riding, no ncb.. and only has a locked carpark in Crystal Palace way.. hence the fee..

We'll be riding up from South London. Ace Cafe then up to Marlow Cafe and back anyone

An idea we discussed was, those coming from any distance would mean the original start point would be tricky to get to. And we needed a fast easy route for all to get there. The Buckden point on the A1 is an easy route with a fuel station on the Buckden roundabout where the bikes can be re-fueled, and within minutes be at the starting point at the North side of Grafham Water, where there is a very large car park that has many facilities including a Cafe. Meeting time about 11ish, time for chat etc, then away the lads/ladets.

It would be nice to know how many of you guy's/girls are most likely to come along, as far as I am aware at this present time, Saturday 6th April, at Grafham Water (just off the A1) about 11 am is booked.
If the weather is, or has been grotty, the ride may well be moved back.
When: as above!! I know you retired types, Brandy bottle out at 4pm

For you and Bill, I'm free all day Saturday, unless its -1 and the weather's poo! But there will be myself amd William on his bike to keep me company along those bleak roads around the M25 and up the A1

I've been freezing my cute arse off every day to work lol, so if the weather is bitter, we can wait a week or so.

Crystal Palace mate, that's around the corner from me. Why the flook are you going to the Ace Cafe? Pain in the arse getting there. I was gonna do the Blackwell Tunnel - will still have to leave around 9.15 or so to get there for 11. What blimmin' time were you going to the Ace!??

What is going on with this weather mannn The b-roads I normally use are shafted. I hope the roads by you Flook are ok. My mum kindly informed me that we're doomed until at least mid-April with cold weather, WTFlk?

Rideout S of France, that's what we need. I need my bike fix now. I'm offically bored from a distinct lack of riding

Haha, well I'm more than happy to ride from his over to urs then up to meet Flook. What intercom do you have?

I only mentioned Ace Cafe as an alternative meet but happy to ride up to the location flook has suggested. Just up in Leeds, was going to ride up here for a meeting tomorrow but what with Easter traffic and -1 weather, its freakin snowing!

I took the train lol. I have to admit I dont think the following weekend will be much above 5' as much as we all want to get out, Id love warmer weather.

Have a work mate thats a biker, he has a nice place in Normandy. We're supposed to be riding over there at some point this year.

Hiya Tone, the top one wont work, the second one has a fault.

Fingers crossed, in a weeks time the weather has not deteriorated, nice and balmy here, a warm 6c, was 9c earlier. If I can I may pop out later and check the route, if not, I will try again.

After all the hype I am sort of praying you like the route, if not, then I am doomed with embarrassment I am.

Have any of you guy's got a favorite route you like, if so post here, I do not see any reason why not. I am sure some of you have these routes, so come on do not keep them to your selves........ share them with your F800 mates

My bike still has no front end after the forks rebuild while I wait for the new head stock bearings.
Hopefully they will arrive today and I can reassemble the bike tonight.
That gives me Thru &Fri to test all's ok.
So still hoping to make Saturday but no plan as yet.
Happy to meet any riders coming up the A1

I'm still a maybe for this weekend. I am about to book another track day for next Tuesday (Donington Park), and so I need to do a bit of work on my track bike. I have a feeling that Saturday will be the only time I have to do this, not to mention that I have picked up a small nail in the rear tyre of my ST, and need to get a proper puncture repair done on it.
Formerly on a Lahar Grey F800S, then after 47,000 happy miles it was traded in for a new Midnight Black F800ST, which was more or less converted back to an S. And now I'm on a brand new R1200RS, which is rather awesome! I'll still stick around if you'll have me, though, as my wife is now on the F800...

Fingers crossed. I need to get Bills (bbb) post code, Ill hook over to his then up. I haven't looked at the route too much, guessing we'll be hitting the A1 quite early on.

I was actually debating taking off the winter muffs for Sat, but it was -1 this morning on the way to work!

Chilly banana is all I've got to say!

I've just taken my bike in for it's work and they said they might have to order in my wheel carrier from Germany so I might not have my bike back until next week! I do however have an R1200R loan bike which has the best weather protection ever........NOT Regardless of what bike I have I'm not going to have a sat nav with a programmed route I'm only a youngster so haven't got a clue what a map looks like either Earth is flat right?

Route wise I was going to suggest the blackwall tunnel/M11/A14/A1. It should be piece of pie to do that - done it many times.

Please sort my bike by Friday evening otherwise I'm an ice popsicle It seems like everyone is doing some kind of maintenance to their bikes at the mo!

Yay, I'm picking my bike up on Friday so I won't have to freeze on an R12R

It looks like tlethere is coming over to mine Sat morning with a mate and the 3 of us are going to ride up. Hope to see other fellow F8 peeps if schedules permit etc. Pat's turning up on a unicycle and Scorch is arriving on his motogp bike yeah

My GF has bailed as she's too busy dicking around with the thermostat if you get my drift. Girls and radiator hugging should become an olympic sport blokes and sizeable gas bills another

Fitted headstock bearings last night and bike completely rebuilt. Just got to test it today. So looking good.

It's about an hour from mine to the start so the route I'll be taking is up the A10 to Buntingford and then along the A507 till I hit the A1 then straight up north.
Probably leave Ware around 9:40 to give me some time on route.

Hi all, first some bad, rather sad news, my mother in law passed away last Monday (I know April 1st an all that), however the good news is I am still coming along, well I have to show my mug don't I.

I am glad bbb ca turn up on is super duper F8, and Pat, well all I can say is "nice one". I cannot promise a warm sunshine day, I suspect it will be chilly, especially as we are meeting beside a huge water area. Some nice warm drinks, I suspect will be the order of the day.

I Skid coming along, we need him to supply the "brownies"

Scorch, what can I say, track day or a ride out, hmmmm a difficult one that is, track day all on your lonesome, whizzing around like billy no mates, or a nice Saturday bimble with some mates, taking in sweeps and curves, even half a hairpin, we could even make it a full hairpin if every one wants. All this with like minded friends......... like I said, hmmmmmmm a difficult one that is.

See you Saturday, and I hope that some of you guy's out there who may read this, will see it as an opportunity to have a good ole meet up.

    Flook

Pat, will you be bringing your camera, if so brilliant, some decent photo's at last, mine just seem to stay on the computer for some reason.

Was here earlier, did not last long tho. Now it is breezey, erm, to say the least. Very cold outside, breezy, which makes it feel even colder, if the wind deis down I am thinking of trying the route then going onto bike club. However, providing it does not pour down, we will be OK Yeah of course we will wont we be positive.............

Nice It's blimmin' sheeting sleeting down now!

Being the idiot that I am I had to drop a part off at Vines this morning. I was buggered by the time I'd done the round trip of 90mins. The R1200R might be great fun for throwing around like a hooligan but it ain't gonna win any awards for keeping ya hands toasty The heated grips don't even get that warm I thought I was gonna have to stop on the way home my hands were that bad

I think I'm gonna triple bag on Saturday - normal clothes, joe rocket suit with liners and an oversuit. Michelin Man it is then.

Skid has brownies, if he turns up.

Ross, any chance of asking Mark if he is likely to, as bbb wants brownies to help him warm up on Saturday

IF (and it's a big if at the moment) I will get The Duchess to knock up a batch of chocolate brownies to take along for the journey.

The IF relies on Scorch and his movements as I've offered my services to get his bike back to having both front & back brakes working as they should again.

Further to this we're all pretty vulnerable to whatever mother nature throws at us and I've become a bit of a fair weather rider and don't fancy it if its going to be anything other than fun while riding there & back.

If I don't manage to make it and you guys do, have fun & be safe.

What does Scotch need brakes for on a track bike?
We'll take a dim view if he stops to attending.
Weather looks to be better but cool.
I plan to wrap up warm and stop for a coffee on route if its chilly.
Hoping to try on a Shoei Noetech today but they don't carry white so won't have it for the weekend.
Flame red F800s as of Nov 2006. Watch for me around North London.

Last time I hit the rear brake, I backed it into the corner at the end of the main straight at Snett.

(I say 'backed it in', but that's only half true, since I didn't actually take the corner and just slid right off the end of the straight going fuuuuuuuuu.....!!!)

Right chaps, I was only able to get my ST booked in for puncture repair at 10:30 tomorrow morning, so it's unlikely I'll get out in time to meet up with everyone, unless it's on the way back...

Perhaps I can keep in touch with Pat and see where you all are and try to get up that way for a final escort for the guys heading back south.

Depending on how long it takes, I suspect there may be time to do it again.

I will be leaving at about 9:30 and do the circuite, and end up at Grafam about 11:00 or before. To be honest I suspect I will be there about 10:45ish.

Here the temp is about 8c, the wind chill feels like -1c, so wrap up warm, I won't be removing my hand guards though I like to keep warm (a sad git aren't I).

This time last year it was nice and warm, the following day (6th) the weather changed, this year I am hoping it will reverse, horrible today, nice tomorrow.

Kep yourselves cosey, and see you about 11:00.

Great ride out. 6 of us in all. Warm and sunny.
Wr did lose 15 mins or so while the old Bill checked all our bikes! But all in all a great run.

Yeah, let you pass and stopped me instead at least you came back to give us reprobates your blessing

Had a great day - hopefully kinell can post his sneaky cop photo up

I'm very envious of the lack of cars on your roads Flook - although now even more paranoid about cops

Apparently tlethere had an eventful journey home. He had a fight break out in front of him as he went through London!

Should have had a police escort then, the opportunity was there

Was Tony still on your bike or had you parted company by then, where he nicked your K12.

I was a tad concerned when leaving though, I thought you had broken Tony's F800, then I realised you was just fiddling, so I followed Kevin.

All in all ended up for some as an eventful day, I trust Tony will tell more on the fisticuffs, though it sounds like a pope was needed

All those who thought about turning up, or could not for one flat reason or another, missed an eventful day, and that was before we got started, they even missed the snow fields and lakes, and that was just at Grafham

Roadpizza, do you fancy a ride out when you come over to the UK. If you were staying anywhere near Northampton (which I know you are not), but if you were, I am sure the local BMW would loan you a bike for near free for some advertising material, like photo's your place in the Forum and privileges etc, they may even throw in a bag of crisps. When young Rob payed a visit he hired a Honda, the local BMW would not loan an F800 for some reason. When I spoke to the Northampton guy's they reckond they would have lent him one free with a proviso on the adverting side, so my way of thinking, is why not try again.

Pat, nice photos, I am sure Cambridgeshire Constabulary would love those as advertising material, I have a card if you would like details..................

Did a post earlier and the net died and lost it

Tony had gone his own way on his bike. London's just full of naughty little boys!

Man his bike made me feel like a beginner or summat. Lowersed sus, low seat, handlebar muffs with my thick gloves, cramp buster that I didn't know about until reaching a roundabout mirrors that showed me nothing, it was unreal! Changing lanes on the m-way involved owl like life savers

All in all a day to remember Think I might need tank pads for my bike as I seem to slide forward and put pressure on my wrists Ironically the bike had them before I got the bike wrapped

Hang on a minute fellas - is that Flook wearing the Budgerigar jacket and if so, doesn't it strike you as odd that plod also wearing a Budgerigar jacket doesn't pull him in? As a matter of interest, what were the grounds for the stop or don't they need any nowadays?
