When I got my '11 F800R the only new one the dealer had in stock was a yellow one, so I got it thinking that I'd just change the color as it's just the two air box panels. Finally got around to doing it, I was thinking about going with BMW Sparkling Graphite but ended up going with BMW Le Mans blue. I removed the yellow F800R decals, looks much better without them. Might get some white ones at some point.

I'm quite happy with the change.

Nice job! Is this a DIY or it is a pro job?

Removal and re-fitting of the panels was a DIY job, but the painting was done by a professional shop specializing in motorcycles. I would've been able to throw three coats of plasti-dip on, but that's about it . I'm quite happy with the way it turned out. Panels are pretty easy to remove, took about 20 minutes in total (removal and re-fitting). Here are a few more shots of the bike in the sun (from the phone, need to take some with the real camera):

The things that look like scratches in the last pic are actually reflections .

Now there is a colour that an R looks good in. Please note BMW, silver and red. Orange... I see the 2013 colours are plain blues, whites and black. The Pffeifer was the best. Still love that blue and I would be tempted to leave off the R sticker.. Again, really great colour.

    Very nice!

I've been trying to remove my side panel decals but they just do not want to come off! I'm only managing to pick off tiny pieces at a time.

How do you get them off?

Thanks, all - the shop charged me $350 for the paintwork, I thought that was a bit much for two panels but it was a fair amount of work to sand and key them first. They also polished and clear coated it and it's a very durable automotive finish, I don't think there is any way I could've been able to do that in my garage. It looks as though it came from the factory. I checked with my BMW Motorrad dealer before deciding on the paint as I was originally going to purchase two extra panels so I could swap colors, but they quoted me $600 for both panels so I decided to just paint them.

As for the decals, mine just peeled right off. I was ready to go at them with a heat gun first, but when I started one corner and pulled slowly, they came right off in one piece leaving no residue. I've always found with difficult stickers/decals that heating them up helps quite a bit, either with a heat gun if you have one about - a hair dryer works quite well too.

The blue is a pretty close match to the blue I had on my 2000 Ducati ST 2. I liked that color.....

    Very, very nice!
Formerly on a Lahar Grey F800S, then after 47,000 happy miles it was traded in for a new Midnight Black F800ST, which was more or less converted back to an S. And now I'm on a brand new R1200RS, which is rather awesome! I'll still stick around if you'll have me, though, as my wife is now on the F800...

If your looking for decals after a paint job:
    46_1374 - EMBLEM F800R
Search at parts dealers, like MAX BMW Motorcycles in New Hampshire, and others...

I bought a yellow one as well, and when the orange gt came out I almost traded it in.So I had it painted in Valencia orange,I have all of my farkles and its like a new bike to me. Just a note I did the 2 black side panels as well as the fairing. 400.00 for 5 panels.
