F800R Sport Panniers stock codes - (minus) headaches

    6 Comments by Drake76 Published on 02-25-14 11:42 AM
Apparently as BMW is only 5% of the North American motorcycle market and the F800R is the red-haired stepchild of BMW; getting the sport panniers sorted out properly is not that straightforward.

For future reference for those looking to buy the sport panniers. Please check the stock codes prior to ordering as things might have changed after today (25Feb14).

Sports Case Left (Fits F800R 2009-13+ only)
    71-60-7-719-740

    Sports Case Right (Fits F800R/S/ST)
    71-60-7-722-364

    Locks 2 options:
Adjustable (can be keyed to fit your motorcycle key)
    51-25-7-698-204

    Regular (new keys)
    51-25-7-688-841

Finally, the incredibly stupid part that will not get ordered and should be included for FREE:
71607680840 you will need 2 of these.

Believe it or not, this includes 2 square screws BMW calls "counter-holders", 2 M6 screws 2 washers. 2 sets of these will run you over $40 and I am not certain where else you would get this square screw that is made specifically to fit into this.

I am very disappointed by BMW as this last part appears to be nothing more than a cash grab and should be included in a product that costs well over $800.

I guess that is valuable information for future owners so I'll move this thread to the HoW.

    Thanks for sharing Drake

Thanks Drake. I just received my retro bag kit that I bought as part of my new bike purchase. Sure enough, the screw kit is missing. Now, thanks to you, I've got a part # for when I call them to get this sorted out.

I have the Sport cases for my 2011 F800R, and have only been able to get the right to fit. The left hits the muffler, and will not sit on the bar. I have been to the dealer twice, and have been told I have a stock muffler, everything is installed correctly, and the sport case has the correct serial number that BMW recommends for the bike. Does anybody else have this issue?? Is this 'missing screw' what I need to make it fit??

Can't tell from the photo, but is the muffler fitted to the tyre side of the mounting bracket or the outside? After the rear axle replacement on my ST the technician mounted the muffler on the outside and I experienced the same problem. The muffler should end up vertial at the rear and quite close to the tyre.

Hi, I read your other posting the the F800R forums. The photo shows the ST case and not the R case. For whatever reason the muffler is not in the same configuration on both bikes. Hope you got it sorted out.

Happy to hear this reference helped a few of you out. Thanks for the feedback
