    -----
As of Tuesday 8/26 a block of *FOUR* additional rooms has become available at the Wattstull Inn! Get one while they last!
    -----

I've been working on this non-stop for the last week or so, I think we now have something quite workable:

    The Basics:

    • Location: Eastern US - specifically in Buchanan Virginia, along the Blue Ridge Parkway and close to Interstate 81.
    • Date: October 3-5, meet-up on October 4th, and stay over at the Wattstull Inn
    • Fee: Zippo! Zilch! No registration fee at all, just show up!
    • Accommodations: We've secured about a dozen rooms at the aforementioned Wattstull Inn for a very reasonable $68 a night. There are currently 19 rooms total available (some king, some dual full, some even smoking), so I'd suggest getting in now if you want to come.
    • Food: Word on the street is that there are a few good restaurants to choose from in downtown, my thought is that a group dinner would be in order.

    Attractions:

    • Buchanan, VA is only 4 miles from the Parkway on gourgeous VA-43.
    • All rally attendees will receive a free downloadable copy of the upcoming F800 Service DVD and one of the uber-new Scotchlite F800 Riders Club Sticker.
    • Supporting Members will recieve a single run only, limited edition F800 Riders Club t-shirt (that will be the Prototype shirt for the new upcoming t-shirts!)
    • F800 Depot will be toting along demonstation products for you to take a gander at.
    • We'll also be bringing along a fully equipped F800S and F650GS Twin (BMWNA willing) for you to take a look at too!
    • You'll be able to put a name to a face of the various forum members!

    Q&A:
    • The Wattstull Inn isn't your average Hilton - is it an OK place?
      • The reviews of the motel look quite good, and we're told that it's the perfect size for our group

    • I'm in! How do I make a reservation at the Inn?
      • Call them at (540) 254-1551 -- Tell them your with the BMW group.

    • It's raining or cold! Is the rally still on?
      • Yup - rain or shine.

    • Is there camping available?
      • Nope - it's a motel only affair. Our next rally might have some camping if people are interested.

    • Is there anything going on before/after the rally?
      • Possibly. As more people plan to attend, there might be a chance ride to or from the rally with someone. Me, for instance, I plan on zooming home to PA up the Blue Ridge and Skyline Drive on Sunday.

    • Do I have to own an F800S/ST/GS or F650GS Twin to attend?
      • Not really, but I would suggest that you be interested in them at least.

    • I'm a Supporting Member, how do I get my shirt?
      • I'll be posting them on the Depot, Sponsoring Members will get a special code to order one. There will be a cutoff date that you *need* to order one by.

    • I still want a T-Shirt, but I'm not a Supporting Member, can I get one?
      • Yes and no. You can buy one, but they are going to be distributed *only* at the Rally. More information will be available shortly on this.

    F800Depot.com Customers:

The Depot, on a limited basis, will deliver your purchase to you at the Rally! If you're really, really nice you might even get some good pointers as to how to install stuff while there. Good examples would be mirror extenders, sidestand enlargers, and stuff along that line. PM me, or use the contact form on F800Depot.com to line this up!

Additionally, if you have a request as to what to bring along for a demo, please do reach out to me! PM me specifically what you want me to bring along.

    Rob:

How do you get in touch with them to make a reservation?

The website (INCREDIBLY) does not have a phone number on it.

Yeah - I noticed that. It's (540) 254-1551, and was in the original post.

    OK.

    I'm in.

I just made my reservation with Samantha.

The phone number is 540 254-1551.

Samantha did not yet know anything about a BMW group coming in, but she does now.

She seemed like a nice lady.

    See ya there.

Boy, the things we do to get a shirt......................

Wow John, you were really quick on this! My wife spoke to her this morning to ensure that she had rooms available, and I called her about 30 seconds after you got off of the phone to lock down those rooms. I didn't expect anyone to call that quickly!

Anyway, your number is correct - I'll make the change in the first post. I've also locked down 10 additional rooms -- you *will* have to mention that you're with the BMW group to get one of them. Kings and double are both available as of now!

Darn. As a new F800ST owner, this would have been great. I'm going to the BMW MOA Hunter Mountain get together that weekend though. I'll be in for the next one though!

I just made my reservation. Hmm I should see where this place is I guess.

We are only supposed to get the one night - the 4th? I'm coming from NC so if the ride is the 4th I guess I would need to come up a bit early on the 3rd and stay over that evening? Please clarify the dates/ agenda just a bit please, thanks.

Wish I could join you guys but 3 days travel each way is just a bit too much.

I should be in that area next summer, though. The BMWMOA National will be in Johnson City, TN. I am planning on a loop from home to Now Orleans, National, Cape Breton and then back home. Of course if I hit the lottery before then I will go to Alaska first.
ST - all options from the factory, sport panniers, stock screen Vario, "tank" mount Zumo, Throttlemeister, Stebel Nautilus, Hyperlites, Hyperpro fork springs, Centech AP-2, Evos, misc farkles and yes, it is Black and Yellow

I can't wait for the MOA next year! It's highly probable that the Depot will be getting a booth there and I'll be bringing almost the *entire* store down with me!

Hopefully we'll also have an F800 specific rally that is closer to you as well.

    Brendan,

I'm planning to make it to about Beckley WV on the 3rd and arrive in the area about mid-day on the 4th. I'm planning on setting up a non-Blue Ridge ride for the 3rd for those who wish to attend there too.

Everyone should plan on showing up around 4:00ish (give or take an hour or two) for check in, unloading, bs'ing with other F800 Riders, pictures, and checking out some of the gear and accessories before dinner. I figure that after dinner there will be a bit more time for kibitzing. I might even bring my Wii down for a bit of 'virtual' motorcycle riding!

Everyone will depart on the 5th - hopefully with most people choosing the Blue Ridge to go home on.

If there is something else that we could work in, now would be the time to suggest it.

Yeah, for me this would be 4-5 days, which is what I plannng for Johnson City next year. But this year, 10/10-10/20 I am going with a group to BMW Motorrad Mexico Rally, 1200 miles each way, 4 there, 2 back, and Gudalajara and Puerto Vallarta in the middle. So I'll have to pass on this one, as I can only take so much time away.

This is very cool news, and thank you for staging it in Virginia. I took the liberty of adding this gathering to our calendar of upcoming BMW events. I'm going to see if we can put together some kind of door prize packet for you, and maybe we can even bring down one of the new bikes to show off.

We have another commitment that same weekend -- the Shenandoah 500 off-road event -- and we'll be planning for our big Oktoberfest open house the next weekend, but I'll see what I can do.

I may be soundly beaten about the head and shoulders, but I'm going to trailer my bike to Virginia. I have a couple of things to take up to my daughter, and I have a friend who will be coming with me. She will not ride on the back (had a bad experience a few years back). Its either bring the trailer or not come.

    I am coming.

So far the following people have posted that they have reserved a room:

    Rob
    Rob (2nd room)
    Herleman
    Brendan
    RomanR
    NelsonBurns
    Kirby

That means that about 1/3 of the rooms that were available at the beginning of the week are gone. If you are planning to attend this even, I would suggest that you get in ASAP to ensure that you have a room.

Also, if you have reserved a room and/or are planning to attend, please post in this thread so that I can get a good count.

This n00b will definitely be in. My GS in in country and should have it soon, and this will be my last fun ride before my CT operation on the following Monday.

I'm out of town on business and will try to get reservations when I get back. Might have my wife tag along on her ST. Thanks for the heads up, Stevebmw

Edit: Back at the hotel - reservations made.

If anyone would like to split the cost of a room with me that would be great. I'll be there the 3rd and 4th I guess and I'm just your typical 22 year old guy trying to save a couple bucks. PM me? Thanks.
I'll also be riding up from central North Carolina the 3rd - it'd be great if anyone else was headed north we could meet up and ride.

Gosh Darn! I'll be in northern Minnesota beginning my Great River Run that weekend. So close to me, yet I'll be so far away. I hate to miss this, but hopefully the next one will be designated a "do not miss" on my calendar!

Thanks Steve for volunteering to put something together from Morton's! No wonder I like you folks at Morton's so much!

Won't be able to get away until Saturday morning.

Brendan, I'm in Greensboro, too (wonder why I haven't seen your bike?), but you don't want to share a room with me, believe me -- I'm 52 and have been told that I snore like a freight train.

Look forward to meeting you folk!

Just spoke with the lady (receptionist) at the hotel. They have exactly 5 rooms remaining: 2 double-bed rooms and 3 single bed rooms. Better book now!

Hi, Brendan; I live in Hamilton Lakes, but I wander around town pretty much everywhere, especially on the weekends.

My bike's a blue '07 ST with top case and panniers -- what color is your '08?

I just got off the phone with Samantha at 11:40 PM ET.
I booked a room for Friday night and Saturday night for me and my brother.
Samantha said to pass on that I got the last room for the 4th with two beds.
As of now....there is one double and 3 kings left for the 4th.
    See you all there!

Hey all, glad to see a large response to this get together.(thanks, Rob) For those of you coming down from the north, there is a large British car event in Waynesboro, VA that weekend put on by the Shenandoah Valley British Car club. I'll probably stop there around noon, look at cars, eat lunch and then head down to Buchanan. Hope everyone has a safe ride. Kirby

OK I just got off the phone with Samantha, I got the next to last room (so only one left!) That's as of 1615hrs local (east coast time) or 4:15pm for the civilians and if you are a Marine Mickey's big hand is on the 4............... She did say that some of the king rooms have capability for roll away beds - so a few more folks could probably be shoe horned in - how loud do people snore??

Rob, bring lots of goodies!! You're gonna have a good (well large anyway:p) crowd!

Looks Like I got the last room. I'll be leaving Milwaukee Thursday Afternoon so if anyone from WI or Il wants to meet up let me know.

I was down in that area back over the 4th of July and it is just fabulous riding!

If you are planning to attend the Rally, please fill out the registration form here:

    https://f800riders.org/forum/survey.php?&do=take&sid=29

I'm going to use the data collected in it to better plan the event including how much stuff to bring along and the number for dinner on Saturday evening. It's looking as though the group is so large that I might just end up collecting money for dinner.

I actually have a feeler out to the Peaks of Otter about dining there on the 4th.

Sounds Good, I could shoot down 39 and meet up with you and go around Chicago. A little more time but less brain damage.

Well done Guy's and Gal's it seems like this meet up could be the largest gathering thru this site so far.

The friends and banter that I have gained on our ride outs is the most valuable thing to have come from this site for me.

Somebody must take responsibility for the pictures.

I just wish you all the best weather conditions over the weekend and that you all have a safe ride to and from the meet up, I appreciate the distances some of you will be travelling!!!!!

I know you will establish friends and meet local riders like we have all done over our 4 or 5 ride out's now.

    regards
