There was no specific sub-forum for 1200s so I figured I'd post here first. If anyone is in the tri-state area and interested in the R1200RS, mine is fully loaded with all luggage, matte grey, with under 3k miles on it. I got it mid August.
It's a terrific bike I just don't like the boxer engine at all. Make me an offer...It of course has to be better than the trade-in value of 14k I'm getting from the dealer.

Bummer Anthony. Sorry that it didn't work for you, but your loss will be another's gain. Any idea what you will move toward?

Aside from the Ural side car I think I'm going back to either the Ninja or the new Yammi FZ1 if it turns out to be real. I'll know MOnday when Yammi does their global press release. I've been during research during this time and a guy similar in size as me has found a great reupholsterer that He will bring my seat to if I mail it to him. I can of course do this over the winter when it won't be a big deal. Also, swapping the pegs out for flat ruberless Z1000 pegs, which is the naked version, will give me 3/4 of an inch. Between the new seat and teh pegs the guy told me he got about 1 3/4 inches more of legroom without having to drop the pegs and this is just about perfect. So if the Yammi is a hoax then it will be the Ninja again. The value of the RS, if I don't sell it privately will get me a one to one trade plus some of the mods, like the pegs and slip ons.

The RS is a fantastic bike that just doesn't work for me. I knew I didn't like the boxer going into it, and even the salesman who has sold me other bikes, brought that up, but I thought the new WC would make it a little more sporty. It hasn't all that much. Great touring and 75 mph type engine for hours if that's your thing. ANd it is for many boxer owners. Coming from liter I-4s, V-4s, and Triples it is a vastly different engine. More of a revvy tractor motor and this is just not for me. Would be a fantastic sunday , trip taking bike, but I can't keep two bikes anymore and it's too expensive to be second bike. So I've made up my mind just last night.

It's show room perfect for whoever wants it!

I've had a few Boxers. Loved them at first but somehow eventually went back to IL. Then I missed them, so got another etc etc

They are actually great engines (my favorite being the TC - haven't tried the LC) and I'd have purchased an RS if it fitted me (not many bikes do) so I ended up with the GT.

Great buy for someone, especially in that color!

It's a great deal especially since they are starting to go up in price.

Bike has been traded in so this thread can be closed. Made the trade today. No more BMWs for me. No bang for the buck, with the exception of the S1000Rs. I love those bikes, but the Gs, Rs and Ks? No thanks.

It's raining out right now, and the Speed Triple hasn't been delivered yet, but here's a quick shot of them at the dealer yesterday.

Yeah the 1050 has been my favorite engine for a while now. There's just no escaping it.

I have had Speed Triple lust for years. My BMW dealer also is a Triumph dealer. They have put together a great line of bikes.

Once you've grown to love it it's tough to replace it. I've been disappointed in Triumph recently for discontinuing the Sprint and not bringing the Tiger 1050 back over here, as well as not updating the Speed triple. But the 2013 S3R was a great one and they've updated the S3 for this spring. So they've sort of stepped up to the plate between that and the new THrux R with a 1200, as well as updating the Tigers, but they still have nothing in Sport Touring which pisses me off. Unless you consider the Behemoth Trophy. But still, the triple and the V4 have owned me for years now and it's tough to get away from it. I'm not a twins guy by nature, but I like a little more character than the I-4s which tend to be too electric, but I'll take an I-4 any day over a twin.

For now, both bikes have relatively low miles so I'll see how far I can get out of them. Maybe something I like will come out by the time they are worn out.

I had an 2007 r1200s 190 rear red/silver paint all options, and that bike was driving around an old muscle car. It was not the fastest one out there but had attitude and it was damn comfortable. Love that boxer tq when it kick the bike sideways just a bit.

The torque lash was strange. I never had a horizontally opposed twin or a shaft drive before so that was a new experience. I hear the Moto Guzzi 1200 transverse twin does that was well. Interesting but I didn't find it particularly enjoyable.
Overall it was a nice comfortable bike that fit me well ergonomically. Twins just aren't my cup of tea. Unless they're both drunk and hot
