    Hi all

Just purchased an F800GT for commuting and fun. Bought the BMW after my Triumph Sprint ST with 55K miles left me stranded on the way home from work with 'surprise!' electrical issues. I rode an F800R several years ago on a trip to Europe and had a great time riding in the Alps and thought this bike would fit the bill for my daily ride that combines twisting back roads with suffering through horrible backed up traffic. I commute year round in all weather except ice and snow.

    Welcome from Puget Sound!

You sound like I do. I ride year around as long as it isn't snowing. Maybe we can get together for a cup of your favorite brew.

Maybe it's a coincidence, but I've been to Seattle 3 times and it snowed while I was there for two of them. Of course the whole city shut down each time for day it snowed...

Welcome to the group. I'm glad that you'll be able to ride way more of the year than I can. I ride year round too, but up here that often means parking it for a month or two straight. That's a boat launch at my local lake.

Hi, Jim. I'm also a new owner from Seattle. Bought a 2009 800ST last month. Let's go for a ride sometime. Weather bothers me a lot less than traffic.

    G'day from Australia, Jim.

I had a 2002 Triumph Sprint RS. Great bike but I couldn't love it. I came off a 1990 Moto Guzzi Le Mans MkV before the Triumph. Loved the Guzzi though.

Welcome Jim! You certainly live in one of the nicest riding areas of the country. I lived in Gig Harbor for a few years but that was half a lifetime ago.

BTW, my buddy has a mid-90s Sprint ST that recently presented him with some "surprise" electrical issues, also. After a looooong time in the dealer's shop, they were unable to fix it without a complete computer control transplant--was going to cost more than the bike is currently worth. The bottom line: the check engine light burns all the time and the fuel gauge works randomly. My buddy is learning to ignore those issues and continue riding the bike.

    Good luck.
