Richard230 started a thread about the Security and Privacy agreement he just received from Revzilla. And then I get to reading my email, Drudge Report and Breitbart News and came across some of these articles that I'll share with you. This stuff is getting really close to Geroge Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four. What he proposed as science fiction is becoming reality.

From Malwarebytes in my email came these two articles:

Then from Drudge Report is an article from the LA Times:
Your phone and TV are tracking you, and political campaigns are listening in
    https://www.latimes.com/politics/la-...220-story.html

And lastly, an article from Business Insider that I found also on Drudge Report:
Google says the built-in microphone it never told Nest users about was 'never supposed to be a secret' (and if you believe that, I have some swamp land to sell you...)
    https://www.businessinsider.com/nest...-secret-2019-2

The technology is progressing far faster than the ethics can keep up.

And to think that people used to be worried about the NSA keeping track of them.

Time to put on my tin-foil hat.

It's been awhile...like maybe 50 years, since I read Nineteen Eighty-Four. It seems to me that those that wanted to rebel against the system, were hunted down.

It's easy to think ahead to a time when you fall into a category of being against the people in charge, whatever that category is and whatever beliefs the people in charge have...and you have to fly under the radar. With the way our technology is, in a couple years, will you ever be able to not be tracked?

From what I have heard the Chinese government is way ahead of us and has even gone beyond 1984. Apparently, besides having cameras everywhere and completely controlling information viewed on the internet, they also have come up with a system of shaming anyone who doesn't toe the political line and of providing both benefits and punishment for people who do things that are both good and bad in the eyes of the government - which even includes such minor things as jaywalking.

In slightly related news, this new ruling by the US Supreme Court is interesting: https://slate.com/news-and-politics/...rbg-timbs.html

It's of course not just governments keeping an eye on you, this is my CCTV system. I always say it's not what you can see, it's what others think you can see, most don't realise the limitations.
