Hey folks, I am having a devil of a time trying to get the 'J' hook to engage. The top of the short end of the 'J' is sitting at the level of the swingarm. I can not seem to pressure it down enough to snap it in to place. Being Carbon it is stiff with no give. The stock plastic gives a little as you push it down and snaps in. I don't want to force it and break a spendy hugger.
Anyone who has installed it have any advice?
It measures correctly to the stock cover, it just doesn't flex.
I have been using flat wooden Carpenters pencil to push down on the 'J' to try to get to snap in to place.
    This I on a 2016 F8GT.

Can you take a picture of what you're trying to get to work and post it? Right now, the description doesn't make much sense. But then mine was installed by the first owner.

Failing that, I could meet you this afternoon. I have a seniors Life Group till 11:30am, but I'm free for a couple hours after that.

And yes, there are different brands. You bought the most expensive one...but also probably the best one.

Hey Chris. If you look at your hugger from the belt side you will see a tab/hook in the middle which should be clipped into the swingarm. The stock belt cover is plastic so it flexes down and clips in. Carbon fiber is stiff and inflexible. It seems that the 'J' is to long so it won't clip in correctly. I'll probably need to sand/cut the short side of the 'J' to get it to seat. The destructions do not mention having to make adjustments.
I don't know how to attach pic's here. My space is small and dark where bike lives.
Your welcome to stop in. I don't how out of the way it would be for you.

I think you should loosen all the other connections and try again. The rear wheel is easy enough to remove to get in there easily if you haven't already. It might make things much quicker to take it off.

If I understand you correctly, this is the "J". I simply pushed the place in the middle towards the center of the bike and it popped out as you see it below. There was no extra amount to get rid of.

Yes that is the piece. Mine is more hooked than that one. It may have been adjusted by whomever installed it. I have remounted this several times and it will not clip in.
This is a replacement Hugger I received from Germany yesterday. This first one the 2 mounting holes didn't line up and had other defects also!

I was not bashing the manufacturer as they stepped up so far and have made, and shipped a new Hugger on their dime.
The company I originally ordered from would be a totally different answer
    Just wanted to clarify.
