Saw this video and thought I'd give it a try for my 2016 F800R key. Worked out great, small mod, but a lot better than the stock key. Got it from ebay(link below), took like 5 min to swap out the key.

Thanks for posting this, think I'll give this a try on my 800gs. One of my keys has broken at the loop and this looks like a nice way to take care of it.

Definitely worth it, the new key won't break. I didn't heat the key(like in the video), just used a utility knife. And I didn't use a toothpick, I cut a piece of rubber from the old key(worked like a charm). The BMW insignia came off one of the keys(its stuck on a small piece of metal with adhesive on the back), so I put a dab of gorilla glue on it with a toothpick and it looks like factory. Totally worth it.

Got two fobs in a week ago and one went smoothly, the other, not so much. While removing the small screw from the new fob, the head spun off. Luckily I was able to extract it after a little extra effort, then I ordered a 10pk of stainless screws on Amazon for a whopping $1.29. Those showed up today and I just finished the second key, then proactively replaced the screw in the first key to be safe.

I got them on sale, but I think they're still pretty affordable
