I currently looking for an 800S/800ST/800GT. I am going to have a test ride on a 2009 F800s tomorrow. I really like these bikes because they have a belt drive and are so light.
The bike I am looking at may not have ABS. All my recent bikes have had ABS and I have become a bit apprehensive about not having it. If I like the bike should I buy it anyway
and just be extra careful in danger situations i.e. when it is in wet ? I am an older rather cautious rider anyway. Also do F800 bikes come with a gear position indicator ?
My previous bikes have had gear position indicators including my R1200R which I loved but it had just become too heavy for me.
I believe that these bikes are generally very reliable and are good for high mileages. Is there anything in particular I should check when buying the bike ?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Welcome to the forum. Personally, I wouldn't own a bike without ABS. I think all F800s have gear indicators. Good luck in your search.

Hello, teej. Welcome to the forum from the coast of Kansas.
1. Yes, they have gear selection indicators.
2. Mine has ABS. As far as I know, my ABS has never kicked in--at least I have never realized it, if it did. And, of course you should always be extra careful in "danger situations" and when the road is wet. I personally like the feeling of having ABS on my bike, but since I have never actually used it … not sure about the "value" of having that feature. Sort of like an unused airbag in a car, I suppose.
The F800 is a great machine, so if you get one, I am sure you will enjoy it.
