That's an excellent take on a lot of the ad market. Applies to cars, boats and airplanes too!

and musical instruments. Just posted this on a saxophone forum.
How To Interpret Sax for Sale Ads
IF IT SAYS: IT REALLY MEANS:
Rare Model. Nobody liked them when new
Older Restoration. No idea when it was restored
Needs Some Work. Hasn't been played in 30 years
Rough. It's too bad to lie about
One Owner. Never been able to sell it
Best Offer. I'll pay you to take it
Price Is Firm. Same as best offer
    Closet Queen. Unheated broom closet
Easy Restoration. Parts will come off in your hand
Recently Serviced. Swabbed it in 1967
    Good Investment. Can't depreciate anymore

I've bought a few strange cars and bikes. If they are 'rare' the salesman will always say "You are lucky to find this one, they are hard to get. But when selling the story changes to "Well it's not popular so there isn't any demand."

My pet hate in this area and it seems particularly common at bmw dealerships (pidcocks) is your part ex is VERY undesirable we don't really want it and it would be very hard to move on, even though we sell other brands.
Now whilst I'm a big f800 I know that there are other great bikes out there indeed the Beemer is the oddball and down on power compared to many rival similar bikes.
So is you want to really piss me off tell me how s##t my xsr700 or Tracer 900 and make buying your f800 more difficult.
But for every dealer like this there is a decent one that will get off is arse and pick up the phone and sort the matter out.
After all that's what your paid to do.

My Dad had a small sax and a clarinet in their cases in the closet that he played in his youth in the 30's
My Mom gave them away years after he had passed away. I imagine they would have qualified for several of those categories.
When I get through with a bike it's rarely worth much but my '89 Bumble Bee R100GS sold for only a bit less than I paid for it 10 years earlier.
Gotta find that eager buyer that just lusts for your item.
