    Hello guys.

I'm experiencing a very strange behaviour from heated grips of my bike.
Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.
It doesn't depend on external temperature or use, it is random, at least it seems so.
I thought it was a false contact but point is, if it was a wiring issue, it would appear also while riding, I mean, the grips should stop heating suddenly.
But here the problem is that, or they start and work properly, or they don't from the beginning, as if I didn't have them at all, both levels of heating.
May be the computer disables them for some reason?

    Andrea

The computer will disable them if your battery voltage drops too low so start with a charging system diagnostic and load test the battery. They will also be disabled if a short is detected. Easiest way to check this is with a GS-911 or Motoscan app to check for stored codes.

I had an issue with the heated grips not feeling warm enough when I first got my 2012 F8R. There was a recall on the button electronics, and had my local dealer replace it. The moment I went out the dealer, I felt them get super toasty. Just a thought

Actually, I have some problems with the starter too...
Sometimes it takes a while to start the bike, droping the voltage very low and making the cockipt test twice before letting the bike starts.
Some other times, it starts normally.
I have to check if the grips are disabled when the starter gives troubles. If it is like this, we have found the responsible.
I have voltmeter and during the ride system voltage is steady at 14.1V, so I guess battery and charging system are ok... or aren't???

Differently change the battery, charging current will be fine but the battery won't keep the charge.
I had issues starting, battery showed ok on volt meter but poor on load meter. Changed battery and all was fine.
