    hello everyone

since yesterday, a new noise appeared from my engine after 5-10 mins of riding

My mechanics said it wasn't worrying him, but still, never ever heard this noise from previous f800's

    Should I worry?

I agree with your mechanic. I didn't hear anything to worry about.

Sounds like a sewing machine full of marbles, that’s means it’s fine.

I don't hear anything odd, but it might be helpful if you describe the noise you are referring to? What does the new noise you are worried about sound like?

I'm with sharkerty...and the others. I thought it sounded normal, but could be missing what you're hearing. Can you describe it?

Sometimes when we hear or feel something "new", we then begin thinking the bike is falling apart. When in fact, it was there all along and we just didn't notice it before. I wonder if that isn't what you're experiencing.

What are you hearing? Change of helmets or even the visor can make a difference in the sound,,.
Sound recordings don't to a very accurate job of replicating sound of a motorcycle,,. Those exhaust note samples never do the actual sound justice,,.
I get a buzz at 6000 rpm that sound more like a vibration then something from the engine, I have never found the source and notice its seems to vary from day to day!!

Is the noise that you can hear (and are worried about) present in that sound clip? Cos you mention after 5-10 mins of riding but that clip is only 20 secs long..... But it sounds OK to me.

Thank everyone for the replies (and apologies for the lack of response, but... well other priorities, mucho work, bad period, you know what I mean...)

the noise is just getting louder and louder, I tried to isolate it in the video, it the same on but with some adjust (and it was after a 2 hour ride), it's this weird growl when I rev up

Last time I went to the dealer, he fond a small leak coming from the oil pressure sender installed in place of the stupid bolt, and just said " thats because of that, it cause a pressure problem, but I still don't hear it"

Sender removed, stupid bolt installed, no oil leak, still the noise...

The sound is hard to pick up as to what is at fault. Sound recordings are better than nothing, but I've never heard them record on my own bike in the playback, what I thought I was hearing to my own ears.

So I'll take a guess that you're commenting on the high pitched kind of raspy noise??? If so, my guess is that you're hearing the cam chain tensioner. Do a search on the forum, and maybe on other forums as well. I have a vague recollection that the cam chain tensioner on the F800 is much like that on my Subaru. It's driven by oil pressure. On the initial startup, you'll hear it some of the time. I also vaguely remember something about a mechanical cam chain tensioner being sold as a replacement. Again, do a search and see if the other threads match what you're experiencing and if so, they'll mention what the replacement part was.

Totally out on a limb here, but it sounds like there's some extra gear whine going that follows the engine revs. I have heard of people talk of similar noises when the water pump drive gears started to fail, but that is just a long shot guess based on a internet sound clip. It's in the valve cover area so a bit of a pain to take a look at, and expensive to have someone else do it if it turns out to be nothing, but you'd get a chance to check the cam chain out while you're in there.

Harbor Freight sells a cheap mechanic's stethoscope. It might be handy to use to isolate where the sound is coming from.
