2015 F800GT, 3K miles on it.My GF says the rode bumps is too harsh. Previous ride was a 2007 RT an it was ok. It has ESA. Any recommendations on softening up the rear shock and spring, something progressive? Sport/comfort/normal makes no difference. The bike came to me with 2K on it and a lovered spring, stock is back on.
For two up riding, try tightening the preload (plastic wrench under the seat) and switch the ESA to Comfort. Keep in mind the F800GT is no R1200RT and probably won’t ride as comfortably with the stock suspension.

A sheepskin butt pad, to which I added 1-inch thick extra-firm chair cushion padding, keeps the ladyfriend very happy (used a spray-on adhesive to hold the cushion in place).
Done something similar myself for the longer runs, really comfortable. They can get pretty manky after a while but that can prove to be a bonus when you have to leave a bike for a while in a not so respectful area.
Ride safely.
