    Hello everyone,

My name is Martin, I'm French Canadian living East of Montréal, Québec. I'm what you could call a New Old Stock rider. i'M 51 years old and got my motorcycle permit for my 50th birthday last year! I was riding a small Honda CBR125R (don't laugh..this is a serious fun bike, it's GP day everyday on this bike!).
But last December I drove 1000km (700 miles) round trip to pick-up my dream bike. A grey 2007 F800ST with 122 000km (77k miles) slightly damaged by a low speed drop but otherwise impeccably maintained. It was declared "totaled" by the owner's insurance company who told her "Here's your check and btw you can keep the bike as well" So the bike went up for sale at a very good price and I was the lucky one

I spend the winter making the needed repairs (mostly cosmetic) and some modifications (mirror extension and a partial vinyl wrapping job)

As i'm a strong DIYourselfer I will make a post of the repairs and also make a proper presentation of the bike and it's "paint job"
BTW what is the best section to present my bike? The "garage" I guess?

For those Frenchy out there, I also intend to translate my posts in the French section. Keep an eye there too
    See you around!

Welcome to the forum Martin. The garage is a good place to present your bike. You can also attach pics to this thread but I "think" you have to have a few posts beofre you can share pics. Someone who knows for sure will respond.

    Bienvenue Martin!

Really heartwarming to read about your entry into this world, most notably having decided to get your permit! We have lots in common: I'm almost the same age as you, I have a grey 2007 F800ST also, and I live in Montreal! (Notable differences: my bike is sadly still under 50,000km and I'm pretty much still an anglophone.) I'm about to take my bike out for its first ride of 2020, as we have been in COVID-19 lockdown and I simply did not want to take the risk until now. The last thing I want is to visit a hospital these days.

I used to come to this forum often. These days I can't spend that same time here. I will look out for you, though, on here and on the road. If you need any advice about riding and caring for these fun workhorse F800ST machines in this area, please don't hesitate to look me up. The easiest way to reach me is not here, unfortunately, but for example by searching for me in Twitter.

    Cheers, et encore bienvenue!
