I'll report for you. After numerous sets, the Shinko's work well. Give good traction and last about 5000 miles.
Once you've used the 705's you may find the 805's a good choice too. I felt the 805 rear had a better feel in the twisties. In a straight line most tires feel decent.
Tried to find other posts re semi dual-sport tyres for the F800R.
I have a 2105 F800R and of late have been out with a few others with bikes like the 'road focused version of the V Strom' and road biased Tiger 800 both with cast wheels so soft off-roaders and we end up doing a bit of gravel type roads.
So am considering some soft off road tyres such as the Metzeler Turance Next and Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2 etc.
Anyone have any experience of these or similar on the F800R or similar (basically non GS bikes) ?
I don't have experience with the metzelers or the pirellis, but I was looking at them.
I have to say the Shinko's have been pretty good. I can't say they are great for gravel, I did have it slip a little bit one time, but overall great tire for the price. Best thing to do is get them, ride them, and find out if they are worth it.
Do update us if you get one of them.
Did you go for a 170 rear tyre and how does it ride?
Your impressions and how may miles have you done on them?
cheers
Pete
