    Hello All,

I'm located up in the Pacific NW, on the dry-side of Washington State. Just picked up a 2008 F800ST with 8,500 miles. So far, loving it. Sold a '96 K1100RS to make room in the garage for this one. Still own an '01 R1100S.

Any suggestions/tips for a new owner? Looks like it will take awhile to learn all the codes and screens on the onboard computer.

    Thanks!

Welcome from the coast of Kansas. Glad to have you join us. The F bikes are about unbreakable, mostly you simply wear out tires. My only complaint is the small electrical output and the need to keep the RPM high when using winter heated gear.

Interesting that you have an R1100S in your stable. That is my all-time favorite BMW and i would have one if I had the storage space. Again, thx for joining us.

Welcome... You should feel right at home on your F800st. A little seat time and a few personal comfort bits and you can ride till the snow flies. I have a 2013 GT and with proper maintenance it has
    basically been trouble free. ENJOY

Interesting how many members have gone to an F800S/ST/GT and can't bear to move on their beloved R1100! I know, I still have my '94 R1100RS and all the wonderful memories of riding it all over our (quite) large country. My ST and GT have been worthy replacements in every aspect except perhaps ultimate ride comfort. Don't worry Tiff, your ST will become your best friend, and whatever ails it will soon be soothed by perusal of these venerable pages.
    Cheers from Downunder.

Welcome from the sunny side of WA, Whidbey Island. I recently bought an F800S, and am loving it....reminds me a little of my R1100S, like you I love those bikes, have owned 4 of them, but they are a bit of a behemoth for an old guy who weighs 140lbs..!

Welcome from Oregon. I also have an '08 ST. So much fun I kept even after adding an '09 RT and '11 GS to the garage. Yours blue or "graphitan grey?" Mine is the latter and still gets many compliments.

Hey, enjoy that F800! Remember the 3 rules.
    1) They don't see you.
    2) No really, even if they see you and blow you a kiss and wave they still don't see you.
    3) And most important: Even if they do see you they will still try to kill you!

Have fun but drive invisible, always in gear and an eye on the mirror!

Got out yesterday.... Moses Lake to Odessa, Harrington, Rearden, Hunters, Inchelium, over to 21, Keller, Wilbur, Wilson Creek, then home. 350 miles and had a great time. Sargent seat not the most comfortable, but I'm guessing it's better than the stock.

Just a mile up the road after getting off the Gifford ferry, off to my right about 30 yards ahead I see what looks to be a large black dog tearing through the bushes to chase me down. Turns out it was a small black bear who opted to turn around at the last second and run back to where he came from. That was a first.... hopefully the last.

Welcome to the "F"amily. The R1100S is one bike I regret selling. A do-all boxer.
