Hi F800 aficionados, 🏍🌞🏍 , just thought I'd better introduce myself to the community, last week I purchased a pre loved F800GT from David near Bath who wasn't using her much, 2014 vintage with 11k miles done, immaculate condition, first stop was down to Andy at AFB motorcycles in Bridgewater for new tyres, still on the original set, feel a bit more confident with them, haven't had a bike for 5 years so it's a bit of a relearning process at present.
This is my first BMW, my first bike with ABS, 6 gears, electronic displays of time mpg etc and luggage, and heated handle bars.
Only modification so far is better mirrors, handle bar mounted as the stock ones just gave me a good view of my elbows!
There is so much useful information on here I know I'll be a regular visitor, thanks for all your support to fellow riders, cheers John

Welcome from Puget Sound. You have a wonderful country to ride a bike like the GT in. Lots of twists and turns, and beautiful scenery to enjoy.

Thanks Richard and Chris, you all seem a friendly helpful crowd of like minded motorcyclists!
I'm retired now I'm afraid, didn't get a get deal of time for bikes when I was working, will endeavour to make up for it.
PS just spent half an hour that I won't get back on your terrible joke section! Brilliant, shame I can never remember them.
    Cheers John.

Welcome aboard Dr Doom (hey what a name), I see all the lads have welcomed you as I do, There is a group down your way that you may want to join. Groups are setting up all over the place at the moment, and meet ups with ride outs is helpful to build an F8 community here in the UK.
So you found WildBills worst jokes, nice one. Try looking at the Word Association, this is fun as well and at times we cross the line, but it is all in the name of banter.

Enjoy your bike, I am sure you will.

Thanks for your good wishes David, may I return them!
I had a hankering for another bike and a friend of mine who is a huge BMW enthusiast gave the F800 his seal of approval, interested to see that you're based in Northern Ireland, have fond memories of living in a number of locations when my mother was training as a psychiatrist ; Armagh city hospital, Holywell Antrim, St Joseph's Limerick but I went to school in Dungannon.
Ride safe, cheers John ( du Heaume)

Thanks Davdundrod, have mixed memories of Holywell Antrim, spent 4 month's there in my Mum's quarters , as a second year medical student I did a right turn on the A1 near Cambridge, from what I remember I didn't look behind me properly, no mirrors on most bikes then, as I turned a car tried to overtake me and put me into the ditch with concussion and a compound fracture of my right lower leg, the surgeons um'd and arr'd about amputation, luckily they were able to save my leg.
Not a pleasant experience but it's made me a very cautious rider ever since!
Don't blame you for preferring good weather for riding, take care out there, cheers John.

Welcome, I've not long moved from North Somerset (Weston), now near West Bay. Enjoy the GT, what tyres did you opt for? New tyres always make a big difference, looking forward to getting mine replaced soon. There are a few people with 800GT's in the BMW Club Western Section, a couple of them in Weston.

Thanks Adrian, glad to see we have a Thomas Hardy fan on board!
Just noticed your address; Casterbridge 😎
When I rang the amazing Andy of AFB to arrange the fitting of new tyres I said fit what you'd send your old Dad out on if it was raining, thanks for that he says, "my Dad's been dead for 20 years"
His choice was Avon Rainmasters but I can't see that on the tyre , the receipt is for Avon 65/66, the rear tyre says Storm 3D AV66, they seem fine on the couple of trips out I've done in this mainly miserable weather currently.
Ride safe and thanks for your interest, cheers John 🌞 🏍Click image for larger version.
