Need F800 pre-purchase tips

Greetings F8 Family
I have been riding an '05 F650 GS single as my "entry level" ADV bike for about a year now, but now that I'm comfortable off road (read, busted arse a few times), I find the thumper's frame is just a bit small for my frame so I'm looking (seriously) at an '09 F800 GS. I know the F650 pretty well, but there are a lot of differences, so I'm wondering what you seasoned F8 owners can tell me to look for beyond the obvious. Any "congenital" problems? Any tricks to read fault codes without the GS 911? The bike shows 6,200 miles, adult owner, never been off road, so I suspect it's fine, but please chime in if you know of any "gotcha's" for this model.

PS-how do you turn off the *$#& Service reminder on this thing? Thanks-look forward to hearing some good stories from the crew

You have some options for reading fault codes. I picked up a used GS-911 for a bit over $100. Others are using the Motoscan tool. I'm not familiar with it, but if I didn't have the GS-911, I'd probably go that way. Either tool will also reset the *$#& Service reminder.
