Hi folks
I’m new to the group with my new, to me, 2017 F 800 GSA. I am not new to BMW but my bikes have been older, like my 1991 K100 RS. Although the K is a really well engineered and reliable bike, it’s getting a little bit tiresome to ride longer distances with my increasing age (63). However I find the F 800 so much more enjoyable to ride, it’s really been a pleasure. Last fall I took my KLR 650 across Nevada and did some camping and a bit of off-road riding. I also love that bike but when I got on the open highways it was just too slow for the flow of traffic. So, enter the F 800. I can still do the off-road and increased speed on the highway and it’s comfortable to ride. I love it so far. Anyway I look forward to reading the posts on this forum with all of your experiences and expertise regarding the f800’s.

Im thinking the GSA with the extra width would eat up the miles especially at higher speeds,,.

Welcome from the coast of Kansas. Glad to have you with us. Since you mentioned riding in Nevada, can I assume you are from that area of the country? If so, my recommendation is to go one state east and ride the southern half of Utah. While I have ridden across Nevada several times, and I found it beautiful scenery (I like deserts) and great roads, the area with all the parks in southern Utah is better. Again, thanks for joining the forum.
